Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a transmission apparatus, a transmission method, a reception apparatus, and a reception method which make it possible to control redundancy of a header in packet communication. A region representing a packet length in a header of a packet is set according to a size of a payload of an input packet. A header of a baseband packet includes a minimum fixed length header including type identification information for identification of a type of the input packet or the stream and information of a packet length of the input packet or the stream stored in a payload of the baseband flame packet.

Abstract: A method for signaling preamble structure parameters is provided. A bootstrap symbol is generated that indicates a preamble structure value. The preamble structure value indicates one of a plurality of different combinations of the preamble structure parameters of a preamble that follows the bootstrap symbol. The preamble includes a first part and a second part. A transmission frame that includes the bootstrap symbol, the preamble, and a data payload is generated. The transmission frame is output for transmission. Further, one of the preamble structure parameters is a forward error correction mode for the first part of the preamble.

Abstract: A reception apparatus including a tuner and circuitry is provided. The tuner is configured to receive a transmission frame including a bootstrap portion, a preamble portion, and a payload portion. The circuitry is configured to extract first signaling information from the bootstrap portion to decode the preamble portion, and extract second signaling information from the preamble portion to decode the payload portion. The bootstrap portion includes at least one of a first symbol used for synchronization, a second symbol that signals emergency alert information, or a third symbol that signals the first signaling information.
