Abstract: A printing unit comprises: a head unit including a head block having a thermal head provided therein; a platen unit including a platen roller configured to feed a recording sheet, the platen unit being separably combined with the head unit, wherein the head unit includes: a head frame including the head block removably mounted thereon, the head frame being configured to support the head block so that the head block is pivotable in a direction approaching and separating from the platen roller; an urging member interposed between the head frame and the head block, the urging member being configured to urge the thermal head toward the platen roller; a cutter mechanism mounted onto the head frame so as to be removable therefrom; and lock portions locked to the head block, which are configured to restrict a pivot of the head block toward the platen roller.

Abstract: A printing unit includes a head unit; a platen unit separately combined with the head unit; a fixed blade provided to the platen unit; a movable blade, which is provided to the head unit and is relatively movable with respect to the fixed blade; a drive mechanism, which includes a drive rack coupled to the movable blade, and moves the movable blade between a standby position being separated from the fixed blade and a cutting position at which the movable blade rides on the fixed blade; an operation lever being movable between a lock position and a releasing position; and a return mechanism configured to move the movable blade from the cutting position toward the standby position side through intermediation of the drive rack in association with the operation lever. The return mechanism includes a lever returning mechanism, under the state in which movable blade is stopped at the cutting position, transmits motive power generated along with an operation of the operation lever from the lock position toward the releasing position to the drive mechanism to move the movable blade toward the standby position and returns the operated operation lever from the releasing position side to the lock position.

Abstract: A printer includes a platen unit having a platen roller for advancing recording paper and a head unit detachably combined with the platen unit and having a thermal head with heating elements. A fixed blade is provided in the platen unit and a movable blade is provided in the head unit for undergoing sliding movement relative to the fixed blade to cut the recording paper. A detected member provided to the platen unit is positioned at a predetermined position of the head unit when the head unit is combined with the platen unit. The detected member engages the movable blade for movement therewith as the movable blade slides. A sensor is provided at the predetermined position of the head unit for detecting the detected member to detect that the movable blade is at an initial position and to detect a combined state between the head unit and the platen unit.

Abstract: A printing unit includes a thermal head, a platen roller, a head support member and a guide member.
