    摘要: An image forming process capable of providing photographic images having extremely high contrast and high resolution for use in photoengraving is disclosed, which comprises processing an image-wise exposed silver halide light-sensitive material having at least two silver halide emulsion layers on a support, one of said emulsion layers providing a contrasty gradation and the other of said emulsion layers providing a soft tone gradation, with a hydrazine contrast development system, a tetrazolium contrast development system or a lith development system, wherein the gamma (.gamma.) value of the portion having a density (D) from 0.3 to 1.5 on the characteristic curve obtained is less than 10 and the gamma (.gamma.) value of the portion having a density (D) from 1.5 to 3.0 is at least 10.

    摘要: A silver halide photographic material is disclosed, which comprises at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support, at least one of the emulson layer and other layers contains at least one hydrazine derivative and at least one of these layers contains at least one compound having both a silver halide adsorbing group and an acid group represented by the general formula (I):C-L-D (I)wherein C represents a group that enhances adsorption to silver halide, D represents an acid group, and L represents a divalent linking group,and possessing substantially no absorption maximum in the visible region. A method for forming superhigh contrast negative images is also disclosed, comprising imagewise exposing this silver halide photographic material, followed by developing with a developing solution containing sulfite ions in an amount of about 0.15 mol or more per liter and having a pH of about 10.5 to about 12.3.

There are provided a thermally processed image recording material and method for thermally forming images that provide significant difference of ultraviolet absorption between image areas and non-image areas suitable for printing plate making.
