摘要:
A system and method for broadcasting a presentation over a computer network to an online audience. The system comprises an integrated environment that leverages many of the features of Microsoft Corporation's NETSHOW™ server technology, along with Microsoft Corporation's POWERPOINT 2000™ presentation design application program to enable a presenter to broadcast a presentation to an online audience over a computer network, such as an intranet or the Internet. The system enables a live presentation comprising a plurality of presentation slides, and audio and optionally, a visual content to be broadcast to a plurality of receiving computers over a network so that the presentation slides are displayed and the audio and visual content are replicated on the receiving computers synchronized with the presentation slides, just as in the live presentation. Preferably, the plurality of presentation slides are sent as HTML files via the computer network in advance of the start of the presentation. During the presentation, the live audio and visual content is captured and encoded into an advanced server file stream format that is streamed from a local computer (at the presenter's location) or a NETSHOW™ server to the receiving computers. The live audio and visual content is then replicated on the receiving computers using a media player. Also, slide display commands produced in conjunction with a display of the presentation slides during the presentation are streamed to the plurality of computers, so that the presentation slides are displayed on the receiving computers in synchrony with the live presentation, by loading the HTML files into a browser application program running on each of the receiving computers, in response to the slide display commands.
摘要:
An integrated environment for scheduling a presentation broadcast that allows a user to seamlessly schedule, make changes, replace, and reschedule a presentation broadcast from within a presentation design application program. The system leverages many of the features of Microsoft's OUTLOOK™ program to schedule a network presentation broadcast of a presentation broadcast from within the presentation design application program that is used to create or open the presentation. The user enters information concerning the presentation broadcast while within the presentation design application program, which is then automatically inserted into a meeting request message automatically sent to a list of prospective attendees of the presentation broadcast that the user has identified. The meeting request message also contains user-entered scheduling information, which is employed to automatically schedule a presentation broadcast meeting in the electronic calendars of those message recipients who choose to attend the presentation broadcast. The system also automatically schedules the presentation broadcast in the user's electronic calendar, which provides a reminder to the user to start the presentation broadcast a predefined interval before the scheduled time. Additionally, the automated scheduling is implemented for a presentation broadcast that is to originate from an Internet web server.

A system and method for recording and playback of a live presentation that enables a reproduction of audio and visual aspects of the live presentation and enables on-demand viewing of the presentation at a later time. A live presentation comprising a plurality of presentation slides, audio content, and optionally, visual content are recorded as a data stream, so that when the recording of the data stream is played, the presentation slides are displayed in substantial synchrony with reproduced audio and visual content on a viewer's computer, thereby reproducing the live presentation. The plurality of presentation slides are saved as HTML files to a predetermined location that is accessible by the viewer's computer over a computer network, such as the Internet. During the presentation, the live audio and visual content is captured and encoded into the data stream, which is in an active streaming format (ASF), and the data stream is saved to a file. Also, slide display commands produced in conjunction with the display of the presentation slides during the presentation are interleaved into the data stream. In response to a viewer's request to view the presentation at a later time, the data stream file is downloaded to the viewer's computer and played back using a media player, which decodes the data stream file to replicate the live audio and visual content of the presentation. As the slide display commands are encountered during playback of the data stream file, corresponding HTML slide files are downloaded over the computer network to the viewer's computer and displayed so that they are substantially synchronized with the reproduced audio and visual content of the presentation.

A computer-based system and method of recording and playing back audio narration to accompany an electronic slide show presentation is disclosed. The method includes a slide show recording session, during which a series of slides are sequentially displayed. During the recording session, a segment of audio input corresponding to the display of each slide within a slide presentation is recorded and digitized. Each digitized audio segment is stored and associated with its corresponding slide. Audio data may be embedded within a slide, or alternatively stored in a file and linked to a slide. During a subsequent performance of the slide show, when each slide is displayed, its corresponding audio segment is retrieved and played back. The method also stores timings corresponding to each slide during the slide show recording session, and optionally uses these timings to advance slides during the subsequent slide show presentation.

A computer-based system and method of creating and performing a soundtrack to accompany an electronic slide show presentation is disclosed. The method includes receiving input from a slide presentation author, the input specifying when the soundtrack is to begin, end, or change. The input also includes a specification of elements that control the soundtrack content. During an electronic slide show, when each slide (212) is displayed, the soundtrack specifications associated with the displayed slide (212) are retrieved. Based on the specifications, a music engine (230) is invoked with commands to control the composition and performance of a soundtrack that accompanies the currently displayed slide. The method also includes receiving specifications of motifs that are triggered to accompany predetermined events occurring during the electronic slide show.
