    摘要: Circuit-switched fallback (CSFB) is a technique to deliver voice-services to a mobile, when the mobile is camped in a long-term evolution (LTE) network. This may be required when the LTE network does not support voice services natively. If a user makes a mobile originating (MO) call, or receives a mobile terminating (MT) call, the UE may inform the LTE network that the UE is leaving for the call by initiating a call setup procedure. However, there may be instances where the call setup procedure may fail. If the call setup procedure was either not initiated, or was initiated but failed, the UE may determine to search for a suitable CS RAT/cell on its own without instructions/commands from the network. Therefore, certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for the UE to find CS services based on information collected at the UE.

For example, certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for performing higher priority radio access technology (RAT) searches in areas having a plurality of overlapping RATs, such as Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) and Long Term Evolution (LTE). According to certain aspects, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to periodically search for higher priority RATs in neighboring cells. According to certain aspects, upon finding a higher priority RAT cell, the UE may be further configured to evaluate, or “pre-evaluate”, criteria for cell reselection from found cell to the currently camped cell, while still camped on the current cell. The UE may be configured to decide whether or not to switch to the found cell based on the evaluation.

    摘要: A method is provided for facilitating preservation of session context information during an inter-radio access technology service retry. A user equipment (UE) may initiate a data transmission for a first service over a wireless communication session with a first network. Upon ascertaining that the first service has failed over the first network, a failover procedure is initiated by sending a service request for a second service to the first network. The second service may be distinct from the first service and has the effect of suspending the wireless communication session with the first network. The UE then resends the data transmission for the first service over a second network. The UE then resumes use of the wireless communication session over the first network after resending the data transmission over the second network. This resumption is done by using context information for the wireless communication session preserved prior to the suspension.

    摘要: Multi-mode system selection (MMSS) enables a mobile station (MS) to prioritize MS preference for selecting particular radio air-interfaces (AI) across multiple standards (e.g., 3GPP, 3GPP2, WiMAX). 3GPP2 is developing a scheme MMSS-3GPP2 which is usually referred to as simply ‘MMSS.’ Other schemes exist e.g., proprietary ones (e.g., internal ePRL), an MMSS-3GPP based on the PLMN with Access Technologies of non-3GPP systems. MMSS OTASP messages and parameters are being defined in 3GPP2 to allow the carriers to provision MMSS parameters to the mobile device. With MMSS, the mobile can select and hence acquire cdma2000 and non-cdma2000 systems (e.g., LTE, WiMAX) based on carrier's preferences.
