Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus for communication in a portable terminal using multiple Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards. The method includes: camping on a predetermined cell by each of the multiple SIM cards; determining whether paging collision occurs between a communication network supported by the predetermined cell on which the portable terminal has camped through a SIM card and another communication network supported by the predetermined cell on which the portable terminal has camped through another SIM card; identifying paging information through a predetermined SIM card among the multiple SIM cards after identifying camp-on information for each SIM card when a result of the determination shows that the paging collision occurs; and performing a paging standby for the communication network in the predetermined camped-on cell by the SIM card corresponding to the identified paging information based on a result of identifying the paging information.
