Abstract:
Disclosed is a device and a method for processing an emergency call in a portable terminal regardless of a SIM card activated by a user's selection. The device includes a plurality of SIM cards, and a controller to make a control so that a SIM card capable of performing a communication service is automatically switched and the emergency call is transmitted when an emergency call transmission is generated.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus for communication in a portable terminal using multiple Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards. The method includes: camping on a predetermined cell by each of the multiple SIM cards; determining whether paging collision occurs between a communication network supported by the predetermined cell on which the portable terminal has camped through a SIM card and another communication network supported by the predetermined cell on which the portable terminal has camped through another SIM card; identifying paging information through a predetermined SIM card among the multiple SIM cards after identifying camp-on information for each SIM card when a result of the determination shows that the paging collision occurs; and performing a paging standby for the communication network in the predetermined camped-on cell by the SIM card corresponding to the identified paging information based on a result of identifying the paging information.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting an emergency call in a portable terminal includes determining whether an emergency call through a currently executed first radio access technology (RAT) is available when the emergency call is requested, selecting a second RAT from among a plurality of RATs supported by the portable terminal when the transmission of the emergency call is unavailable, determining whether transmission of the emergency call through the second RAT is available, and if so, transmitting the emergency call through the second RAT.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for providing a packet service in a portable terminal in which a first communication network unit provides the packet service through a first communication network, a second communication network unit provides a circuit service set as a default service and the packet service through a second communication network, and a controller has the capability to switch delivery of the packet service from the first communication network to the second communication network. When it is determined that a data rate of a bandwidth allocated by the first communication network is lower than a maximum data rate supported by the second communication network during the packet service in progress through the first communication network, the controller preferably switches from the first communication network to the second communication network and controls the second communication network unit to perform the packet service.
