    摘要： A color image recording apparatus capable of detachably accommodating an interchangeable process cartridge incorporating plural kinds of developing devices. A plurality of kinds of interchangeable process cartridges are provided differing in the kind of developing devices incorporated therein, and each of such process cartridges has a predetermined operation mode corresponding to the kind of developing devices incorporated therein. Each of the plural kinds of process cartridges is adapted to be associated with a card-shaped memory storing data representing the predetermined operation mode. In the apparatus is provided an electric connection for forming an electrical circuit between the card-shaped memory associated with the accommodated process cartridge and the control device. The control device receives data from the card-shaped memory through the electric connection, and based thereon performs the predetermined operation mode of the accommodated process cartridge.

    摘要： The invention provides a color image forming apparatus provided with an image carrying unit including a rotatable photoreceptor, a developing unit including a plurality of developing devices, and a cleaning unit. The apparatus is formed with a lower casing and an upper casing. In the upper casing, the image carrying unit, the developing unit and the cleaning unit are accommodated, in which at least two kinds of the units are incorporated in a cartridge capable of being detachably installed in the upper casing. The upper casing is adapted pivotal between an open position and an operation position around an axis which is disposed parallel to the rotation axis of the photoreceptor. When the upper casing is pivotted to the open position, the developing unit is so disposed that a side of the developing unit facing the photoreceptor becomes higher than other side of the developing unit.

    摘要： An image forming apparatus which includes a recording sheet storage unit disposed within a main body and a feeder for feeding recording sheets from the recording sheet storage unit. Further included is a detector which emits a signal beginning an automatic loading of the recording sheet storage unit into the main body after manual placement of the storage unit at a predetermined position, and the unloading of the recording sheet storage device when such is desired. Further included is a second detector which detects the fully loaded position of the recording sheet storage device, as well as a conveyor for conveying the storage device to the fully loaded position when loaded, and removing the storage device therefrom during unloading.
