摘要： A developing unit including a developing chamber provided with a rotatable developing sleeve and a magnet roller capable of rotating inside the developing sleeve, and a first agitator for agitating a developer, and an agitation chamber provided with a second agitator for supplying a magnetic toner to the developing chamber. A restriction member, formed of a magnetic material, is suspended between the developing chamber and the agitation chamber. A free end of the restriction member extends toward the first agitator and a toner supply slit is formed below the lower, or free, end of the restriction member so that the magnetic toner supplied by the second agitator in the agitation chamber is conducted to the first agitator without direct contact with the developing sleeve. As a result, the magnetic toner can be supplied and agitated positively and stably.

摘要： A partition wall for separating a developing chamber from a toner agitating chamber in an electrostatic developing device includes a high wall portion confronting a toner discharge opening of a toner cartridge, and low wall portions formed on either side of the high wall portion. Toner is discharged from the toner discharge opening of the toner cartridge into the agitating chamber. Toner is then sent over the partition wall and into the developing chamber by rotation of an agitator in the agitating chamber. Toner in the central portion of the agitating chamber goes over the high wall portion, and toner in the side portions of the agitating chamber goes over the low wall portions. Accordingly, a uniform amount of toner is supplied to all points along the length of a developing sleeve in the developing chamber, and hence to all points along the length of a photosensitive drum confronting the developing sleeve.

A convey roller positioned downstream of the sheet supply roller is rotated at a peripheral speed V3. Additional convey roller positioned downstream of the first convey roller is rotated at a peripheral speed V2 lower than V3. A register roller positioned downstream of the second convey roller is rotated at a peripheral speed V1 lower than V2. A transfer roller of the image forming unit is rotated at a peripheral speed V0 lower than V1. Each convey roller, the register roller, the sheet supply roller is connected to each clutch. Sheet sensors are provided between neighboring rollers for detecting a leading edge of the sheet. Upon detection of the leading edge, the roller positioned immediately upstream of the one of the sensors is shifted to its non-driving state.

摘要： A paper sheet discharge apparatus comprises a transport roller that transports paper sheets discharged from an image-forming apparatus, a plurality of switching flappers that guide the paper sheets to desired bins, and a plurality of delivery rollers that discharge the paper sheets via the switching flappers to the bins. The paper sheets are reliably stored in the desired bins without decreasing their transport speed by the aid of the transport roller, the switching flappers, and the delivery rollers. The power from a motor is transmitted only to the delivery rollers which are used to discharge the paper sheets while being interlocked with the specified switching flapper.

摘要： A recording medium discharge apparatus includes bins for storing sheets of paper therein. The apparatus also includes level sensors for each detecting one of the bins having been filled with paper sheets. Each sensor consists of a light emitter and a light receiver, which are positioned on both sides of the associated bin. The emitter and the receiver are aligned on a line extending across the direction in which paper sheets can be discharged. This prevents paper sheets from coming into direct contact with the sensors. Even if paper sheets discharged into each bin are once taken out and then returned to it, the returned sheets do not come in contact with the associated sensor. It is therefore possible to keep the discharge of paper sheets in good condition.

摘要： A sheet feeder provided with a feed roller having a circumferential surface portion and a cutout surface portion and capable of reliably feeding sheets regardless of the thickness and weight of the recording medium. The feed roller has a roller shaft extending from both side thereof. Each roller has an inner peripheral surface through which the roller shaft extends, and has an outer peripheral portion serving as a contact portion for contacting with a separation pad when the cutout surface portion is in confrontation with the pad. An annular space is provided between the inner peripheral surface of the roller and an outer peripheral surface of the roller shaft. A spacer is movable over the roller shaft and is insertable into and rectactable from the annular space. In the insertion position, a distance between an axial center of the roller shaft and the contact portion is increased. In the retracted position, the distance is decreased because of the urging of the separation pad toward the roller.

The developing device stirs toner in the toner cartridge by rotating an agitator in the toner cartridge, and supplies the stirred toner from a toner introduction port. The image forming apparatus then forms images by electrophotographic processes. The agitator has at least two elastic film members and is formed so that the first film member is rotated first, then the second film member is rotated by following the first film member.
