Abstract:
The present invention relates to a flat-running device intended for being fitted on an assembly mounted on a tubeless one-piece rim for an automobile, said mounted assembly including said device, and to a method for mounting and/or removing said mounted assembly. The device according to the invention (1) includes a ring (2) with a radially internal mounting surface for the device, intended to closely match the hollow section of the rim (11), the ring having an open structure with two ends held closely facing one another by a means (5) for clamping the ring. According to the invention, at least one transverse notch (6), the two edges and the bottom of which are located under one of the ends of the ring, is formed in at least one of said side portions (3a), forming a circumferential lip which projects axially from the corresponding side wall of the ring, which includes said recess and is suitable for wedging the ring in the hollow section of the rim, such as to enable, via said notch, transverse insertion of a tool (7) such as a lever between the rim and said mounting surface in order to facilitate the operations of mounting and/or removing the device on the rim.
Abstract:
A run-flat device for a motor vehicle, the device being designed to be fitted clamped on a standard rim having lateral flanges for holding the beads of a tire, wherein the device is constituted by at least two coaxial annular pieces engaged one on the other, the radially-inner piece being of relatively rigid material and forming an open ring around the rim, the radially-outer piece being based on an elastically deformable material and comprising a one-piece continuous surrounding the radially-inner annular piece and having an inside diameter that is substantially equal to or greater than the outside diameter of a lateral flange of the rim.
Abstract:
The improved ring device for running on a flat tire for a vehicle wheel that is provided with a tubeless tire mounted on a one-piece rim having a well-base is constituted by a one-piece split ring received inside the tire and designed to fit over at least a portion of the shape of the rim. The ring is formed with a reinforced thermoplastic resin core having a rubber annular projecting portion thereon, and it is fitted with means for fastening together the end portions of the ring and for tightening them onto the rim.
Abstract:
A runflat system for a motor vehicle, comprising a non-standard one-piece rim having at least a first peripheral cavity or drop center to enable a tire to be mounted on the rim, and a runflat device for mounting on the rim inside the tire, said device being constituted by a rigid ring split into at least two circularly arcuate elements or sectors, wherein the rim has at least one second peripheral cavity which is separated from the first cavity by an intermediate peripheral ridge, wherein each sector of the ring has a radially inner portion for being received in the second cavity of the rim, and wherein the system also comprises means for fixing the sectors in the second cavity of the rim.
Abstract:
A ring device for running with a flat tire and having articulated sectors is disclosed for a vehicle wheel equipped with a tubeless tire mounted on a one-piece rim with drop center, housed inside said tire and molding itself at least partially to the shape of the rim, the external surface of said ring being distant from the internal surface of the tread of the tire as long as the latter is in its normal operating condition, wherein said ring made from a composite material with a reinforced thermoplastic resin basis is formed so as to have in its part intended to come into contact with the rim drop center a stop lip for holding a bead of the tire in position, the other bead of which is subjected to the action of an elastomer wedge provided on the diametrical face of the ring opposite that carrying the stop lip, the articulated sectors being assembled together by mechanical fixing means providing positioning of the assembly of the ring and its component parts (elastomer wedge and stop lip) during actuation thereof.
