摘要： A compound for use as a photosensitiser in PDT, in photochemical internalisation in the production of a cancer vaccine or in the diagnosis or detection of medical conditions, the compound having a photosensitising chromophoric system, a sulphonamido functionality and a carboxy functionality. The compounds used in the present invention are photosensitisers in PDT in vivo, and show phototoxic activity in vitro. The compounds are used to treat pre-cancerous conditions, cancer, ophthalmological disease, vascular problems, arteriosclerosis and restenosis and autoimmune diseases, skin diseases and other benign conditions, and for anti-microbial treatments.

摘要： The present invention relates to compositions suitable for use as topical pharmaceutical compositions for use in the treatment or prophylaxis of a superficial microbial species infection, and/or as anti-microbial cleansing compositions for use in the sanitary cleaning of animate or inanimate surfaces. The pharmaceutical compositions comprise a physiologically acceptable metal ion chelating agent and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor, in which composition said metal ion chelating agent has a metal ion chelating capacity for metal ions on which said microbial species is dependent for viability. The cleansing compositions comprise: a cleaning composition wherein is provided a metal ion chelating agent and in which composition said metal ion chelating agent has a metal ion chelating capacity for metal ions on which a microbial species is dependent for viability.

摘要： A prosthetic bone joint device, developed initially for the knee but applicable to other joints, has first and second components each with a laterally-spaced pair of respectively convex and concave bearing surfaces, and each with a seating surface bridging the respective bearing surfaces, the seating surface being of V-shaped profile longitudinally of the component. The components are disposed with their bearing surfaces in mutual articulatory engagement, and with the V-apices of their seating surfaces in closely-spaced parallel relation, and have at least two elongate flexible linkage members extending with their opposite ends connected to respectively different ones of the components in a crossed configuration seated on the seating surfaces.
