摘要: A polymer-free synthesis method is provided for preparation of monodisperse nanostars. The nanostars can be used for treating and imaging cells in in vivo or ex vivo. The modes of treatment include use of a nanostar modified with a photo-activatable drug, which drug is activated by the photo-response of the nanostar to electromagnetic stimulation; use of a nanostar modified with a thermally-activatable drug, which drug is activated by a thermal response of the nanostar to electromagnetic stimulation; and the thermal response of the nanostar itself to electromagnetic stimulation, which can directly or indirectly cause the death of an undesirable cell.

摘要: Plasmonics-active metal nanostars are provided that can be used for treating and detecting cells in a subject. The modes of treatment include a photo-activated drug, which is activated by the photo-response of the nanostar to electromagnetic stimulation; a thermally-activated drug, which is activated by a thermal response of the nanostar to electromagnetic stimulation; and the thermal response of the nanostar itself to electromagnetic stimulation, which may directly or indirectly cause the death of an undesirable cell. Uptake of nanostars by undesirable cells may also aid in detection, by enhancing contrast or otherwise transforming electromagnetic stimulation during imaging.

摘要: A targeting thymidine kinase photosensitizer and pharmaceutical composition and use for cancer treatment thereof is provided, which improves the selectivity of photosensitizers to tumor cells, has better tolerance, can reach maximum blood concentration in 24 hours, has a bigger conjugated system, a longer absorption wavelength and an advantage in treating depth tumors; the wavelength area does not need to consume much energy of a light-output device and even LEDs can be used, which render PDT more practical and economical. The targeting thymidine kinase photosensitizer can be used for diagnosis and for treating prostatic carcinoma via the guidance of fluorescence imaging. The pharmaceutical composition uses a combination of a chemotherapeutic agent and the targeting thymidine kinase photosensitizer, which further improves the therapeutic effect of the PDT method, expands the application range for tumors and has good effects on metastatic tumors as well.

摘要: Disclosed is a complex for remedying or treating a retinal disease. The complex includes a hyaluronic acid or a derivative thereof, a carbon nanomaterial covalently bonded to the hyaluronic acid or the derivative thereof, and a photosensitizer bonded to the carbon nanomaterial. The complex for remedying or treating the retinal disease according to the present invention includes a hyaluronic acid-carbon nanomaterial-photosensitizer complex, thus selectively preventing the formation of active oxygen in retinal pigment epithelium cells for a relatively long period of time. Accordingly, the complex has excellent therapeutic efficacy and easily infiltrates into cells. Further, the present invention provides a composition for remedying or treating a retinal disease including the hyaluronic acid-carbon nanomaterial-photosensitizer complex.

摘要: Methods for the treatment of a cell proliferation disorder in a subject, involving: (1) administering to the subject at least one activatable pharmaceutical agent that is capable of effecting a predetermined cellular change when activated, either alone or in combination with at least one energy modulation agent; and (2) applying an initiation energy from an initiation energy source to the subject, wherein the applying activates the activatable agent in situ, thus causing the predetermined cellular change to occur, wherein the predetermined cellular change treats the cell proliferation disorder, preferably by causing an increase or decrease in rate of cell proliferation, and a kit for performing the method, a computer implemented system for performing the method, a pharmaceutical composition useful in the method and a method for causing an autovaccine effect in a subject using the method.

摘要: A prostate treatment system having a light delivery device positionable in a transurethral device for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The light delivery device includes light generator, such as light emitting diodes (LED), laser diodes (LDs) or a diffusion quartz fiber tip connected to a light generator or a light emitting polymer which produces light at a selected wavelength or waveband or alternative sources of suitable light energy. The treatment device may further include a temperature monitoring system for monitoring the temperature at the treatment site. A light-activated drug is administered to the treatment site prior to light activation. The light-activated drug therapy induces cell death of the target tissue. The device provides a minimally invasive transurethral method for treatment of BPH or prostate cancer.
