    摘要: This invention relates to a class of phthalein indicator dyes useful as optical filter agents in photographic processes to protect a selectively exposed photosensitive material from further exposure during processing in the presence of incident light. Such dyes comprise 3,3-disubstituted phthalides and 3,3-disubstituted naphthalides wherein the 3,3 substituents are p-hydroxy carbocyclic aryl radicals wherein one or both of the radicals possess a --CH.sub.2 --NRR' group ortho to the p-hydroxy group and the --CH.sub.2 --NRR' group(s) is capable of rendering the indicator dye substantially non-diffusible in aqueous solution.

Preferably, the noble metal is obtained by reduction of a noble metal salt or complex, and more preferably, the noble metal is palladium.

    摘要: A laminar triplex structure for use in the manufacture of electrical cells and batteries, cells and batteries made therefrom, and methods of making the same. The laminate comprises a thin flat sheet of separator material, a layer of metallic particles on one surface of the separator sheet and adhered thereto with a binder, and a layer of conductive plastic adhered to the layer of metal particles. The laminate is made by the process of coating a dispersion of metal particles in a solution of a polymeric binder in an organic solvent over the separator, drying to remove the solvent, coating over the dried metal layer with a dispersion of conductive particles in a solution of a polymer in an organic solvent, and drying to remove the solvent.

    摘要: This invention relates to certain 3,3,-di(4'-OP-carbocyclic aryl)-2,3-dihydrobenz[d]isothiazole-1,1-dioxides (and-2,3-dihydronaphtho[1,8-de]-1,2-thiazine-1,1-dioxides) and to the preparation thereof by reacting (a) at least 2 equivalents of (i) a 4'-OP-carbocyclic aryllithium compound wherein P is a protecting group compatible with organometallic reagents or (ii) a 4'-OP-carbocyclic arylMgE compound wherein P is a protecting group compatible with organometallic reagents and E is chloro, bromo or iodo and (b) 1 equivalent of a compound selected from a 3-chlorobenz[d]isothiazole-1,1-dioxide and a 3-chloronaphtho[1,8-de]-1,2-thiazine-1,1-dioxide to give the corresponding 3,3-di(4'-OP-carbocyclic aryl)-2,3-dihydrobenz[d]isothiazole-1,1-dioxide or the corresponding 3,3-di(4'-OP-carbocyclic aryl)-2,3-dihydronaphtho[1,8-de]-1,2-thiazine-1,1-dioxide, which compounds are useful in the synthesis of phenol and 1-naphthol sulfam(na)-phthaleins employed, for example, as photographic optical filter agents and filter agent precursors.

    摘要: A receiving element for use in a photographic silver diffusion transfer process which comprises a transparent support carrying a layer comprising gelatin, polyvinyl alcohol and noble metal silver-precipitating nuclei; wherein said nuclei are present in a level of from about 0.1-0.4 mgs/ft.sup.2, gelatin is present at a level of from about 0.05 to 1.5 mgs/ft.sup.2 and polyvinyl alcohol is present at a level of about 0.1 to 5 mgs/ft.sup.2. Preferably, the noble metal is palladium. The receiving element is particularly useful in an additive color diffusion transfer process.
