摘要: The present invention relates to a system and method that provide for automated notification to entities (e.g., individuals, groups of individuals, computers, systems . . . ) of welding system related information. The invention provides for determination of events and/or conditions that warrant automatic notification thereof to relevant entities. The notifications are conveyed via a most appropriate subset of available communication modes available. The system identifies most appropriate entities to receive the notification about the event, and optionally determines or infers state of the entities and conveys the notification via a communication mode (e.g., text, audio, graphical, video, combination thereof . . . ) and modality (e.g., wireless, Ethernet, cable, optical, telephone, e-mail, voicemail, pager, ghosting, instant messaging . . . ) that is most suitable given context/state of the event and entities.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed that facilitate inducing one or more actions, such as generation of a shift report data related to construction device(s), via detection of specified triggering events. The system comprises a triggering component that determines whether a triggering event has occurred a control component that initiates an action in response to the triggering event. Triggering events can comprise specific times of day as determined by a real-time clock that can be associated with a construction/fabrication device, such as a welder. Additionally, actions responsive to triggering events can be tagged for human approval prior to initiation in order to provide system flexibility.

摘要: The present invention leverages a co-located communication component to provide remote management of a portable construction device. This enables monitoring and/or controlling the portable construction device from a central management site. The communication component allows the central site, or another communication component, to interact with the portable construction device to retrieve information such as, for example, usage information and/or status information. The communication component also allows remote control of the devices such as, for example, remote power control and/or control of auxiliary devices that facilitate the functionality of the portable construction devices. The present invention can also incorporate global positioning systems and/or location indicating systems to facilitate in determining where the portable construction devices are located and/or when the devices are properly positioned. The systems themselves can be distributed to form a communication network with bi-directional communication capabilities.

摘要: A system that facilitates dynamic configuration of a welding system with respect to a sensor comprises a processing unit associated with the welding system. A configuration component facilitates configuring the welding system with respect to the sensor upon determining that the sensor is coupled to a local bus associated with the processing unit. A remote access component can facilitate remotely accessing the welding system, the configuration of the welding system alterable by way of the remote access component.

摘要: A device finder locates devices connected to a network that do not have a network address assigned to them by sending a broadcast message to all connected devices independent of network address. The broadcast message requests identification information from each device. The devices on the network, including any devices that do not have a network address, send a broadcast message in response that includes device identification information. Once the identification information has been received, a network address can be assigned to the device.

摘要: A method, a computer-readable medium, a software application, and a computer-based apparatus for initially establishing communication with a device on a local area network (LAN) in a substantially automated manner. A broadcast discovery request is transmitted over the network and the network is monitored for responses from devices connected to the network. A responding device is selected and a determination is made as to if a primary IP address of the selected device is within a predetermined subnet. Otherwise, a determination is made as to if a current alternate IP address of the selected device is within the predetermined subnet. Otherwise, a new alternate IP address is generated and may be conditionally assigned to the selected device. One of the primary IP address, the current alternate IP address, or the new alternate IP address is used to connect to the selected device for the purpose of communicating with the selected device.
