A production method of producing a welded structural member with excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance that includes a first artificial aging treatment step of maintaining a 7000-series aluminum alloy material at a temperature of 90 to 110° C. for 1 to 5 hours, a second artificial aging treatment step of maintaining the 7000-series aluminum alloy material subjected to the first artificial aging treatment step at a temperature of 145 to 160° C. for 4 to 12 hours; a welding step of welding the 7000-series aluminum alloy material subjected to the second artificial aging treatment step with another aluminum alloy material to form a welded structure; and a heat treatment step of heat-treating the welded structure at a temperature of 165 to 195° C. for 10 to 60 minutes. The material includes Zn, Mg, Zr, Ti, Cu, Mn, Cr, and Al, and is formed of a metallographic structure that is of a fibrous structure.

A cutting method using a stamping press according to the present disclosure is a method to cut a workpiece that is configured from a first metal sheet and a second metal sheet joined at a weld portion and that has a heat-affected zone around the weld portion, in which the workpiece is cut using a punch. The punch includes a flat portion and a projecting portion projected more toward the workpiece than a flat portion of the punch. The workpiece is positioned with respect to the punch at a position such that the projecting portion starts cutting at least at one out of the heat-affected zone or the weld portion before the flat portion cuts the workpiece. The workpiece is then cut by moving the punch and a die relative to each other in this state of positioning so as to shear across the weld portion on the workpiece.

The outer joint member includes a cup section having track grooves formed in an inner periphery of the cup section, which are engageable with torque transmitting elements, and a shaft section formed at a bottom portion of the cup section. The outer joint member is constructed by forming the cup section and the shaft section as separate members, and by welding a cup member forming the cup section and a shaft member forming the shaft section to each other. The manufacturing method at least includes welding the cup member and the shaft member by irradiating a beam to joining end portions of the cup member and the shaft member, and inspecting a welded portion formed in the welding by a plurality of ultrasonic flaw detection methods with one probe.

A process is provided for laser beam welding of surface treated steel components. Two steel components, at least one of which is a surface treated steel component, are relatively arranged to form a joint that is to be welded. Using a laser beam, the two steel components are irradiated along the joint so as to heat materials within each of the two steel components to a welding temperature, and thereby form a weld pool. During welding a metallic constituent is introduced into a leading edge of the weld pool, in front of the laser beam along a welding direction. The introduced metallic constituent combines with a species, which is released into the weld pool from the surface treated steel component, to form a compound that is stable within the weld pool at the welding temperature.
