摘要： A pair of sealing bars for a pouch packaging machine have sealing surfaces which are asymmetrical with respect to one another. The sealing surface on one of the sealing bars is flat and smooth, having linear edges in two perpendicular directions. The sealing surface on the other of the sealing bars is shaped as a portion of a curved cylindrical surface, defined by a linear edge in a first direction and an arcuate edge in a perpendicular direction. The bars are positioned with respect to one another such that the curved sealing surface on the one bar convexly projects toward the flat, planar sealing surface on the other bar. Seals formed with these asymmetrical sealing bars have a sealing bead which is thinner in the center and thickens outwardly toward both ends moving away from the center.

摘要： An easy open pouch is formed from front and back thin films by a seal formed between the films. The seal defines a product storage chamber and a dispensing cavity between the films. The seal completely surrounds the product storage chamber. An opening to the exterior of the pouch is formed in the seal in the dispensing cavity. The product storage chamber and the dispensing cavity are located adjacent to one another with a common wall located between them. The common wall is formed as a part of the seal and is frangible in response to a pressure differential between the product storage chamber and the dispensing cavity. Upon creating a pressure differential between the product storage area and the dispensing cavity the seal across the common wall delaminates to join the product storage chamber to the dispensing cavity. Product can then be dispensed from the product storage chamber through the dispensing cavity and out of the dispensing cavity opening.

摘要： A dispenser system having a substantially large pouch (20) for holding a substantially large amount of viscous food product for dispensing from a dispenser (122). The pouch is formed so as to include a tear strip (38) to open a funnel-shaped, centrally disposed outlet spout (24) and to be sealingly held in the dispenser. The pouch may include a pair of alignment/holding openings (32, 34) formed on either side of the outlet spout for aligning the pouch in a preferred position in the dispenser, so that a piston-type extruding member (136) may pressurize and dispense predetermined size shots of viscous food product therefrom.

摘要： A fill tube has a hollow interior with a product inlet orifice, a product discharge orifice and a fill rod orifice connected to the interior. A plunger rod having ends is mounted through the fill rod orifice such that its first end is located within the hollow interior of the tube adjacent the product discharge orifice. The plunger rod has a valve member on this end that is tear drop in shape and is sized to fit into and seal against the inside of the discharge orifice. A plurality of fill tubes and plungers can be mounted on a packaging machine in conjunction with a prime mover and a moving member that is operated by the prime mover. Each of the plungers are connected to the moving member so as to be moved within their fill tubes in conjunction with movement of the moving member imparted thereto by the prime mover.

摘要： A denesting device for separating trays of joined cups prior to loading of the cup trays onto a conveyer belt of a packaging machine includes a feed bin mounted on a housing for receiving a stack of the nested cup trays. Associated with the bottom of the feed bin are a plurality of elongated helical screws each of which has a variable screw thread formed thereon. The variable screw thread on each of the helical screws has a variable pitch that increases from a first lesser pitch portion which is located adjacent to the feed means to a second greater pitch portion from which the denested cup trays are discharged. The plurality of elongated helical screws are rotatively mounted on the housing in a spaced array about the feed means. A drive mechanism rotates the elongated helical screws whereby upon rotation of the screws the first lesser pitch portion of the variable screw threads of the helical screws engages an edge of the cup trays stacked in the feed means and continued rotation of the helical screws moves the cup trays along the variable screw threads from the lesser thread pitch portion to the greater thread pitch portion with separation and denesting of the adjacent cup trays initiated and then increased as the cup trays move along the variable screw threads of the helical screws.

摘要： A pouch perforator for a form, fill and seal packaging machine of the type which forms pouches from continuous film includes a cutting element and a support element. The cutting element is rotatively mounted on the packaging machine as is the support element with the cutting element located on one side of the film and the support element located on the opposite side of the film. The cutting element includes a plurality of axially extending knife edges located in a circumferentially spaced array. The knife edges rotate in response to rotation of the cutting element. The support element includes a circumferentially extending support surface which rotates in response to rotation of the surface element. The knife edges in response to rotation of the cutting element compress film against the support surface to perforate the film.

摘要： A film feed device for a form, fill and seal packaging machine includes front and rear rolls of film which are individually unwound and fed to the packaging machine via a drive assembly which contacts the rolls and rotates the same independent of other film feed mechanisms on the packaging machine. The drive assemblies contain motors which can be further controlled with sensing devices capable of sensing both when the film has been exhausted from the film roll and when the rate of output of the film from the film rolls by the drive assemblies is greater than the rate of further processing of the film in subsequent steps on the form, fill and seal packaging machine.

摘要： For use on a form, fill and seal bagging machine a left side bag gripping member and a right side bag gripping member are located in association with a movable component of the bagging machine as, for instance, the head seal. The bag grippers contact and grip the left and right respective sides of a bag and spread these sides apart from one another just prior to formation of a cross seal on the bag by the head seal. This insures that the heat sealable film utilized on the machines is not puckered or pinched by the head seal therefore leading to a defective seal between the front and rear films forming the bag.

摘要： A sanitary fill tube assembly includes an oval fill tube connected between an oval inlet tube and an oval spreader having a hollow interior with a piston valve member reciprocally mounted therein. The piston valve member is actuated by a plunger rod and is guided by a pair of arcuate guide slots formed in the spreader to accurately move the piston valve between open and closed position. The plunger rod and the piston valve member may include elongated internal passages therein and the piston valve member closely fits into a discharge outlet from the hollow interior of the spreader to accurately control and meter material being fed into a pouch. The piston valve member may be provided with a sharpened leading edge to cut off particulate material contacted thereby.
