Abstract:
A punching and/or perforation equipment (33, 34) for continuous paper forms (37, 42) comprising punching and/or perforation member (81; 226, 227) and contrast elements (82; 224) substantially tangent to the movement surface (63, 204) of the forms and a punching and/or perforation mechanism (56, 57; 197, 198) for driving the punching and/or perforation members. A detecting device (92, 93; 244, 245) detects at least one reference position the forms associated with the punching and/or perforation positions and a servomechanism (87, 88; 228, 229) actuates the punching and/or perforation mechanism on the basis of the reference position or positions between a state of rest and a state of punching and/or perforation and in which the reference position or positions are associated with information of a position encoder (72, 214). The punching and/or the perforation members cooperate with the form with a peripheral velocity, at the moment of the punching and/or perforation, substantially equal to the velocity of the moving form (37, 42).
Abstract:
A device for consecutively forming one or more notches in a first surface and one or more notches in second surface of a hollow workpiece. The notching device including a first die and a second die that is fixed relative to the first die; and a shiftable punch having opposing first and second cutting surfaces. The punch shiftable between a first punching position and a second punching position and aligned such that the first cutting surface and the first die cooperating to form a first notch when the punch proceeds towards the first position, and the second cutting surface and the second die cooperating to form a second notch when the punch proceeds towards a second position.
Abstract:
A cutting device for materials such as gauze is provided by a circular knife having a cutting edge suitable for making an incision in several sizes of swabs. The knife is rotatable in correspondence with a succession of swabs moving along a path. The swabs have a folded edge in a direction of movement. A counter roller is elastically biased against the knife and disposed for passage of the moving swabs therebetween. A Y-shaped incision extending from the folded edge is made in the moving swabs by the knife.
Abstract:
A pouch perforator for a form, fill and seal packaging machine of the type which forms pouches from continuous film includes a cutting element and a support element. The cutting element is rotatively mounted on the packaging machine as is the support element with the cutting element located on one side of the film and the support element located on the opposite side of the film. The cutting element includes a plurality of axially extending knife edges located in a circumferentially spaced array. The knife edges rotate in response to rotation of the cutting element. The support element includes a circumferentially extending support surface which rotates in response to rotation of the surface element. The knife edges in response to rotation of the cutting element compress film against the support surface to perforate the film.
Abstract:
A knife assembly for punching slots on cardboard sheets to allow the subsequent forming of boxes and containers. The knife assembly is substantially a flat arc section with an outer and an inner edge. The outer edge is substantially flat to permit sharp punched edges of the slot. The arc section has two ends and adjacent to one of the ends there is a sharpened section intended to produce a slit termination on the slots punched. The slit can have any desired dimensions including the entire outer edge.
Abstract:
An apparatus for notching the back of a book. The apparatus includes a conveyor for moving the book along a conveyor path with the back of the book exposed. A cutter is provided for forming notches in the back of the book. A cutter support disc supports the cutter adjacent the conveyor path and supports the cutter for movement along a path extending transverse to the conveyor path. A first drive is connected with the cutter support dics for moving the cutter along a path extending transverse to the conveyor path. The first drive is operable in a timed relationship with the conveyor to form notches in the back of the book. A second drive is connected with the cutter for moving the cutter relative to the cutter support disc to form notches in the back of the book. The second drive is operable independent of the first drive to maintain the cutter at a speed sufficient to form notches in the back of the book regardless of the speed of movement of the cutter support disc.
Abstract:
A blade for a rotary slotter is constructed by rigidly securing two arcuate blade sections in abutting end to end relationship by utilizing a keying element force fitted into complementary slots extending to the abutting ends of the blade sections.
Abstract:
Apparatus for punching holes in sheet material is provided. At least one cutting knife is mounted for rotation about a first axis. A punching surface of the knife includes end edges that protrude further from the axis than the side edges of the punching surface to permit the end edges to penetrate the sheet material before the side edges sever the sheet material. A cylindrical roll having a groove extending about its circumference is mounted for rotation about a second axis that is parallel to said first axis. The groove forms a pair of continuous cutting edges positioned in cooperative shearing relationship with the side edges of the punching surface of the knife. The new cutting method performed by the apparatus comprises first penetrating the sheet material with the end edges of the punching surface of the knife to form end cut lines which are longitudinally spaced in the sheet material, and then shearing the sheet material along a pair of side cut lines with each side cut line connecting a pair of laterally aligned ends of the end cut lines.
Abstract:
The cutter mechanism includes a fixed cutter having side notches therein over which either a sheet, strip or an endless web of paper travels at a preselected speed. A pair of rotatable cutters are mounted on shafts for rotation in timed relation to each other and to the speed of the sheet, strip or web. The rotatable cutters are positioned on opposite sides of the fixed cutter. Each of the rotatable cutters has a first radially extending cutter blade and a second radially extending cutter blade arranged longitudinally along the shaft and adjacent to each other. One of the radially extending blades is adjustable angularly relative to the other. The relative radial angle between the blades determines the length of the notch cut by the respective rotatable cutters in the side of the sheet, strip or web.
Abstract:
A film notcher and cutter for a roll of film carrying pairs of stereo images in which fiducial marks of a triangular nature are provided one for each image, the base of the triangle being perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the image and at the center of the frame, the notcher and cutter providing a notcher punch arranged on a centerline slightly offset from the base line of the triangle, with a cutter bar being arranged to sever each frame from the strip at a predetermined distance from the notcher punch centerline, and the film surface of the device being provided with a pair of windows separated by a bar the width of the offset distance of the triangle base line and the notcher punch centerline.
