Methods and systems for wireless communication are disclosed and may include controlling one or more scans of a received signal detection frequency across a frequency range and storing a magnitude of the received signal at each frequency where the magnitude exceeds a threshold level. A type of one or more signals in the received signal may be determined based on a bandwidth of the signals. A Bluetooth page/inquiry scan may be initiated if the determined type is a page/inquiry signal, and scans may be continued if the determined type may not be a page/inquiry signal. The scans may be repeated on a periodic basis and may be controlled utilizing a voltage controlled oscillator. Each of the scans may include a plurality of discrete frequency steps or a continuous frequency ramp. The controlling may include a start frequency, an end frequency and a frequency step size for the scans.

The frequency may be swept over a subset of the Bluetooth band, and may be swept on a periodic basis.

Aspects of the system may include a WLAN receiver circuit within a substrate of a single chip that enables reception of WLAN signals, and a Bluetooth receiver circuit within the same substrate that enables reception of Bluetooth signals. The WLAN receiver circuit and Bluetooth receiver circuit may utilize a single low noise amplifier circuit that enables reception of the WLAN signals and Bluetooth signals. Aspects of the system may also include a WLAN transmitter circuit within a substrate of a single chip that enables transmission of WLAN signals, and a Bluetooth transmitter circuit within the same substrate that enables transmission of Bluetooth signals. The WLAN transmitter circuit and Bluetooth transmitter circuit may utilize a single power amplifier circuit that enables transmission of the WLAN signals and Bluetooth signals.

A FM channel map may be determined based on the location and the FM radio transmitter may be configured for transmitting FM signals based on the FM channel map, which may include a list of ranked FM channels. The geographic location may be acquired from received RDS or RBDS signals, received GPS signals, other received wireless signals, and/or from user data. Channel spacing, channel offset and/or frequency band may be determined for the FM channel map. A frequency for transmitting FM signals via the FM radio transmitter may be selected based on the determined FM channel map. The FM radio receiver may also be configured for receiving FM signals based on the determined FM channel map.

A plurality of digital audio signals from a plurality of sources utilizing different clocks may be processed and transmitted via an FM transmitter. The plurality of signals may have different sample rates which are converted to one same sample rate by a plurality of rate adapters. The plurality of rate adapters may be clocked at one same sample rate. The energy levels of the signals may be adjusted relative to one another and as a group. Energy level adjustments may improve FM modulation signal characteristics and audible energy levels for an end listener. The plurality of digital audio signals may be combined into one composite signal and FM modulated in the digital domain. The FM modulated signal may be converted to analog signal prior to being filtered, amplified and coupled to an antenna for transmission.
