    摘要: An eye wear comprises an optical filter disposed in front of an eye. The optical filter has a transmittance function of wavelength comprising a transmittance peak having a peak transmittance and a transmittance bandwidth. A transmittance outside the transmittance peak is at a lower level transmittance, wherein a ratio of the lower level transmittance to the peak transmittance is less than unity. The transmittance peak is at a central wavelength of a laser that emits laser light forming one of a laser spot and a laser line. The transmittance bandwidth is larger than a bandwidth of the laser light emitted by the laser. The laser spot or the laser line formed by the laser light emitted by the laser is viewed through the eye wear.

    摘要: For magnifying a display of a portable device, the display is placed at a distance less than the distance of the normal near point to the eye (about 25 cm). However, the image will be blurred since the eye cannot focus the image onto the retina. To form a magnified image onto the retina, a positive lens is added in front of the eye. With a positive lens in front of the eye, and the device is placed closer than the near point to the eye, a viewer can see clearly the magnified display. A 2.5″ (6.25 cm) display will be seen like a 32″ (80 cm) display or even larger.

    摘要: A laser aligning device is mounted on the flat side of a putter grip or other cylindrically asymmetric surface of a club grip and emits a fan shaped light sheet. The light sheet is perpendicular to the flat side of the putter grip. The light sheet projects a visible laser line on a plane such as the ground when the head is on the same plane. The alignment of the grip relative to the putter head's face can be inspected by visually inspecting the orientation of the projected line on the plane relative to the head's face. The grip can be adjusted and fixed so that it is properly oriented to the face.

The device is affixed to a putter head above its sweet spot, and emits a vertical light fan which projects a line on the around normal to the face of the putter head. The line is aligned with the sweet spot of the putter head and lies on the ground to connect the top of a golf ball with a target, such as a cup or a putting hole, so that alignment can be easily visualized. The device can be detached and reattached easily without any laser alignment. Furthermore, the device can be removably mounted to a user's own putter. The heat generated in the laser diode is quickly dissipated through the metal housing, the metal putter head, and the metal shaft to the surrounding air. Since proper operating temperature of the laser diode can be maintained, the laser diode will operate properly, which means the power of the emitted light will not be decreased, and the lifetime of the diode will not be shortened.

    摘要: A vector-matrix multiplier in which a matrix is stored in an electron trapping material by exposing the material to visible light passed through a liquid crystal device, which acts as a mask. The visible light raises electrons in the electron trapping material to a higher energy level at the exposed locations. Infrared light is then passed through the liquid crystal device to form an input vector, which is projected onto the electron trapping material. The infrared light releases electrons from the higher energy level, resulting in emission of a pattern of visible light. The emission of visible light from the electron trapping material forms an output representing the product of the input vector and the matrix.

    摘要: To measure the coherence length of light, an incident beam (20) is caused to interfere with replicas of itself after having variable delays. Variable delays are generated by passing a beam (40) that is a part of the incident beam (20) around a loop (46). The beam partially leaves the loop (46) at each cycle and partially continues looping. A beam (44) with multiple delays leaving from the loop (46) is caused to interfere with a beam (56) that is another part of the incident beam (20) without delay, to create an output beam (60). The intensity of output beam (60) is affected by multiple delays caused by the loop (46), and depends on the coherence length of the incident beam (20). Therefore, the coherence length of the incident beam (20) can be obtained by detecting the intensity of output beam (60). When the coherence length of light is sufficiently large, by setting the resultant intensity of output beam (60) to be zero, the interferometer can also be used for high speed switching of laser light, based on a transient phenomenon.

    摘要: A novel, high-speed spatial light modulator utilizing electron trapping materials. The electron trapping material is exposed to a pattern of modulating radiation, resulting in the excitation of electrons in the material at spatial locations corresponding to the pattern. When the light to be modulated (ordinarily coherent light) is simultaneously or subsequently passed through the material, it is absorbed in areas of the material where electrons have been excited. The unabsorbed light passes through the electron trapping material, producing a negative image of the pattern of modulating radiation. The electron trapping material also emits an image of incoherent visible light as the released electrons fall back to the ground state. This visible image can be filtered out if the device is only being used for modulating coherent light. Conversely, the device can be utilized by detecting only the incoherent visible emission from the electron trapping material, which constitutes a multiplicative product image of the electron exciting and electron releasing light incident on the electron trapping material.
