    摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for tracking items in a shopping cart using radio frequency identification. In one embodiment, a first set of items is positioned in a first item zone alongside an aisle. An electronic tag reader is capable of remotely reading identification tags on the items into an electronic record of shopping cart contents when the identification tags are within a readable range from the electronic tag reader. An energy field generator such as an electromagnetic field generator generates a first electromagnetic field extending from a location within the readable range of at least some of the items in the first item zone to a location outside the readable range of any of the items in the first item zone. The tag reader is movable along the aisle into and out of the first electromagnetic field, and is configured to not read the identification tags into the electronic record while the tag reader is within the first electromagnetic field and to selectively read the identification tags into the electronic record when the tag reader is outside the first electromagnetic field.

    摘要: A system for automatically determining a configuration of an I/O connector panel is disclosed. The system provides information about the capabilities of the connector card to a memory within the connector card, examining the information in the memory. The system further downloads at least one driver to a system coupled to the I/O connector panel based upon the examined information. The I/O capabilities of a platform (as determined by an I/O panel or other hardware that contains some identification mechanism that defines the I/O capabilities) is within the connector card. This mechanism is then used to determine what software to “preload” into a system so that as new I/O devices are added in the field, the required software for these devices has already been preloaded.

An authentication may be stored in the boot code image in a terminal from a central site by creating a file comprising a boot code image storing the authentication at the central site and then storing the created file in ROM in the terminal. The file may be downloaded from a server at the central site to the terminal. An authentication in the boot code image in a terminal may be updated remotely from a central site by updating the file associated with the boot code image, i.e., updating the authentication, at the central site and then downloading the updated file to the terminal.

A Dynamic Host Control Protocol server is configured to monitor Dynamic Host Control Protocol communications from one or more client devices, wherein the client devices are configured to boot from local media. A boot request is received from a client device in response to a failure of the client device to boot from the local media. Responsive to receiving the boot request, a determination is made that a boot failure has occurred on the client device.
