    Abstract: A magnetic body of the coil component is constituted by soft magnetic metal grains joined together via a glass phase, wherein the soft magnetic metal grains contain Fe in their metal part and also have, on their surface, an amorphous insulation layer containing Si and O, and wherein the percentage by mass of Si relative to all elements in the insulation layer is higher than that in the glass phase. The coil component can offer improved dielectric breakdown voltage.

    Abstract: A magnetic material includes a soft magnetic metal grain containing Fe, and a multilayer oxide film covering the surfaces of the soft magnetic metal grain. The multilayer oxide film has a first oxide layer of crystalline nature containing Fe, and a second oxide layer of amorphous nature containing Si. In an embodiment, the silicon oxide film of amorphous nature is formed by dripping, divided into multiple sessions, a treatment solution containing TEOS (tetraethoxy silane), ethanol, and water into a mixed solution containing the soft magnetic metal grain, ethanol, and ammonia water, to mix the solutions.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, a magnetic body includes soft magnetic alloy grains 11 containing Fe, element L, and element M (where element L is Si or Zr and element M is a metal element other than Si or Zr that oxidizes more easily than Fe), as well as oxide film produced from oxidization of part of these grains 11; wherein at least some of the bonds between adjacent soft magnetic alloy grains 11 are by way of the oxide film; the oxide film has an inner film 12a, and an outer film 12b positioned on the outer side of the inner film 12a; and the inner film 12a contains more of element L than element M, while the outer film 12b contains more of element M than element L.

    Abstract: In some embodiments, a magnetic body 1 has soft magnetic alloy grains 11 that contain Fe, M (M is a metal element that oxidizes more easily than Fe), and S, as well as oxide films 12 produced by partial oxidization of the soft magnetic alloy grains 11, wherein the magnetic body 1 has its adjacent soft magnetic alloy grains 11 bonded together at least partially through the oxide films 12, and contains Fe by 92.5 to 96 percent by weight and S by 0.003 to 0.02 percent by weight. The magnetic body can have high levels of both magnetic permeability and volume resistivity, to meet the demand for smaller, higher-performance electronic components.
