Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a composite material, in particular a composite material of metals, a process for producing a composite material, and a medical device, in particular an implant, based on the composite material. The composite material comprises at least 5 vol-% of Fe and at least 1 vol-% of Mg or Zn, wherein the composite material comprises a Mg or Zn phase and an Fe phase, wherein the average size of the Mg or Zn phase in at least one dimension is less than 20 μm, in particular less than 10 μm. The medical device, in particular an implant, may be suitable for fixing of bone fractures (as well as fractions of a tendon or a ligament, etc.) and/or corrections and may be capable of exhibiting a targeted failure representing a complete paradigm shift in the treatment of bone fractures and the like.

Abstract: The present invention provides an ammunition having a primer insert having a top surface opposite a bottom surface and a extraction flange that extends circumferentially about an outer edge of the top surface; a coupling element that extends from the bottom surface, wherein the substantially cylindrical coupling element is adapted to receive a polymer overmolding; a primer recess in the top surface that extends toward the bottom surface, wherein the primer recess comprises a recess bottom and a circular recess side wall; a primer flash aperture through the recess bottom that extends through the bottom surface, wherein the primer flash aperture is adapted to receive a polymer overmolding to form a flash hole; and a groove in the primer recess positioned around the primer flash aperture adapted to receive a polymer overmolding, wherein the groove extends at least partially over the bottom surface and at least partially over the circular recess side wall and the groove is adapted to receive polymer over the bottom surface and at least partially over the circular recess side wall.

Abstract: An improved atomized powder metal material containing an increased amount of free graphite after heat treatment and/or sintering is provided. The powder metal material is typically a ferrous alloy and includes carbon in an amount of 1.0 wt. % to 6.5 wt. % and silicon in an amount of 0.1 wt. % to 6.0 wt. %, based on the total weight of the powder metal material. The powder metal material can also include various other alloying elements, for example at least one of nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), tin (Sn), aluminum (Al), sulfur (S), phosphorous (P), boron (B), nitrogen (N), chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), molybdenum (Mo), vanadium (V), niobium (Nb), tungsten (W), titanium (Ti), tantalum (Ta) zirconium (Zr), zinc (Zn), strontium (Sr), calcium (Ca), barium (Ba) magnesium (Mg), lithium (Li), sodium (Na), and potassium (K).

Abstract: There is provided a method for producing a magnetic refrigeration module. The method comprises: a step (1) of preparing a mixture powder A containing an La(Fe,Si)13-based alloy powder, an M powder, and optionally an organic binder, the La(Fe,Si)13-based alloy powder having a main phase with an NaZn13-type crystal structure, and the M powder containing a metal and/or an alloy and having a melting point of 1090° C. or lower; a step (2) of subjecting the mixture powder A to a heat treatment in a reducing atmosphere at a temperature close to the melting point of the M powder to obtain a sintered body B; and a step (3) of subjecting the sintered body B to a hydrogenation treatment in a hydrogen-containing atmosphere.

Abstract: This invention relates to powder metallurgy, more specifically, to methods of fabricating hard alloy items. The invention can be used as an iron, cobalt or nickel base binder for the fabrication of diamond cutting tools for the construction industry and stone cutting, including segmented cutting discs of different designs and wires for reinforced concrete and asphalt cutting used in the renovation of highway pavements, runways in airports, upgrading of metallurgical plants, nuclear power plants, bridges and other structures, monolithic reinforced concrete cutting drills, as well as discs and wires for the quarry production of natural stone and large scale manufacturing of facing construction materials. This invention achieves the objective of providing binders for the fabrication of diamond tools having higher wear resistance without a significant increase in the sintering temperature, as well as higher hardness, strength and impact toughness. The achievement of these objectives by adding an iron group metal as the main component of the binder composition and alloying additives in the form of nanosized powder in accordance with this invention is illustrated with several examples of different type binders for the fabrication of diamond tools.
