Abstract: The present invention provides improved surgical devices for ab-externo sub-retinal fluid drainage and methods for using the same. The surgical devices are illuminated, allow for a reinforced mark to be placed on the sclera, feature a deployable needle, and enable direct visualization of retinal pathology via transillumination of the sclera. The surgical devices allow more precise localization of the site of retinal tears and subretinal fluid drainage.
