Abstract:
The invention relates to optical pumping magnetometers, wherein an alkali vapor filling an absorption cell is optically pumped by means of a pumping source which provides light having two spectrum lines building up a doublet. The magnetometer according to the invention uses a cell whose walls are internally lined with a layer preserving the alignment of the alkali atoms. Improved detection of the R.F. lines is carried out with a birefringent plate converting said two spectrum lines radiations supplied by said cell with the same circular polarization into radiations rectilinearly polarized in mutually perpendicular directions.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the controlling or piloting of the frequency of a radio oscillator, by a quantum oscillator, or vice-versa. The object of the invention is a Doppler effect comparator device comprising means for modulating the optical oscillation produced by the quantum oscillator at a frequency generated by a radio oscillator. Interferometric means are provided in order to heterodyne said modulated wave with the modulated wave reflected by a moving obstacle. This technique makes it possible to substitute for the comparison of the frequencies received by the comparator, the comparison of the Doppler frequencies which result.
Abstract:
The invention relates to optical pumping magnetometers wherein an absorption cell is optically pumped with a pumping light source emitting two spectrum lines building up a doublet. The magnetometer according to the invention uses an absorption cell filed with a mixture of an alkali vapor and a buffer gas. The efficiency of the optical pumping is increased by insertion between the pumping source and the cell of an optical arrangement capable of circularly polarizing in mutually opposite directions the pumping radiations corresponding to the above-mentioned spectrum lines.
Abstract:
A maser oscillator comprises two cells, connected to each other through a duct, which are filled with atomic hydrogen and respectively subjected to crossed magnetic fields. One of the cells is lined internally with a film of a substance preventing atom misalignment and is located inside an UHF cavity.
Abstract:
An arrangement for controlling the frequency of a monochromatic light source, wherein said light wave is caused to propagate out and back through a cell containing a gas or a vapor having an absorption line and wherein the light wave is frequency modulated and feedback loop, between the frequency-controlling means of the light source and an output collecting the wave reflected through the said cell, is provided for monitoring the frequency of said light source.
