Abstract: A light beam direction control element includes: a first transparent substrate; a second transparent substrate facing the first transparent substrate; a first conductive film pattern having openings and being formed on a surface of the first transparent substrate opposing the second transparent substrate; a second conductive film pattern having openings and being formed on a surface of the second transparent substrate opposing the first transparent substrate; an electrophoretic element being sandwiched between the first and second conductive film patterns, and including light-shielding electrophoretic particles having a surface charge and a transparent dispersion medium; and light-transmissive regions being disposed between the first and second transparent substrates, being sandwiched between at least a portion of the openings of the first and second conductive film patterns, having a surface parallel to the first and second conductive film patterns, and having side walls surrounded by the electrophoretic element.

Abstract: An optical detection type chemical sensor includes a light source, a detection element and a photodetector. The detection element is constituted of a laminate in which a multilayer film including a chemical detection layer, an optical interference layer, and a half mirror layer is formed on a transparent substrate. At least one of the layers includes a magnetic material. Light from the light source is applied to the detection element under the condition that the light enters inside of the detection element from the rear surface of the transparent substrate on which the laminate is not formed and multiple reflection occurring in the laminate intensifies the magneto-optical effect. A subject is detected by using the photodetector to detect a magneto-optical signal indicating a change in reflected light from the laminate resulting from a change in an optical property resulting from a reaction in the chemical detection layer.

Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display device configured to display an original image at an original image display position, a second array of a lens array or a pinhole array, and a first array of a lens array or a pinhole array disposed distant from the display device and the second array between the display device and the second array. The first array is configured to form a plurality of elemental images generated from the original image at positions between the first array and the second array. The pitch of the plurality of elemental images is different from lens pitch or pinhole pitch of the second array. The second array is configured to integrate the plurality of elemental images to generate a single reproduced image of the original image.

The light blocker blocks the excitation light entering the fluorescence-labeled derivative specifically binding to the antibody.
