    Abstract: A joining apparatus includes: a die having a recess; and a punch disposed opposite to the recess. The punch includes an inner punch portion and an outer punch portion disposed around the inner punch portion, the inner punch portion and outer punch portion are configured to be movable relative to each other, and a depression is formable at a front end of the punch. The joining apparatus is configured such that, in a state in which the depression is formed at the front end of the punch, the punch is moved relatively so as to press and deform the multiple plate members toward the recess by the punch, and the inner punch portion is moved relatively so as to extrude a metal in the depression by the inner punch portion.

    Abstract: A laser welding method includes: projecting a laser beam onto irradiation regions on plural metallic workpieces such that a weld section is formed when the workpieces are joined by laser welding, the weld section being formed of plural nuggets, and each of the irradiation regions being formed with each of the nuggets. The nuggets are sequentially formed by sequentially projecting the laser beam onto the irradiation regions that respectively correspond to the nuggets. The laser beam is projected onto each of the irradiation regions such that an amount of input heat from the laser beam that is projected onto each of the irradiation regions to the workpiece is reduced as the nuggets are sequentially formed.

    Abstract: A laser welding device includes: a laser scanner body configured to emit a laser beam to a workpiece; a jet nozzle configured to jet gas so as to cause the gas to cross an optical path of the laser beam emitted from the laser scanner body; and a guide plate disposed on the downstream side in the flow direction of the gas, from the optical path of the laser beam emitted from the laser scanner body. The guide plate is configured to change the flow direction of the gas that has crossed the optical path of the laser beam into a direction away from a laser irradiation position on the workpiece toward the downstream side in the flow direction of the gas.
