Abstract: A simple-structured, easy-to-produce chain drive mechanism is provided, which can reduce the overall noise level irrespective of chain length or rpm, while suppressing noise and vibration caused by tension fluctuations and maintaining durability and service life. The engagement/seating mode between a silent chain and a driving sprocket is one of inside-flank engagement/inside-flank seating, inside-flank engagement/outside-flank seating, outside-flank engagement/inside-flank seating, and outside-flank engagement/outside-flank seating. The engagement/seating mode between the silent chain and a driven sprocket is one of inside-flank engagement/inside-flank seating, inside-flank engagement/outside-flank seating, outside-flank engagement/inside-flank seating, and outside-flank engagement/outside-flank seating. The engagement/seating mode between the chain and the driving sprocket is different from that between the chain and the driven sprocket.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a silent chain and a silent chain transmission device which stabilize chain behavior during chain travel to suppress an occurrence of tooth skipping and to reduce a string vibration sound and a meshing noise with simple configurations. In a silent chain 110, a pin hole 161 of an inner plate 160 and a pair of locker pins 170 are configured in such a size that a gap is formed between a seat surface 163 and a back surface of a short pin 172 in a state where the pair of locker pins 170 are in contact with each other on rolling surfaces 171a and 172a.

Abstract: There is provided a silent chain that is reduced in weight and widthwise size by reducing the length of a short pin while preventing the occurrence of excessive stress concentration in the short pin of a rocker pin including a long pin and the short pin. The short pin of the rocker pin extends through all plates of the guide row and all plates of the non-guide row in the width direction. The short pin is provided with a first stopper, and a second stopper. A first end surface of the short pin is prevented from being positioned in a first adjacent pin hole by contact between the first stopper and the first contact portion, and a second end surface of the short pin is prevented from being positioned in a second adjacent pin hole by contact between the second stopper and the second contact portion.

Abstract: Provided is a silent chain that enables adjustment of the stiffness and balance of stiffness between upper and lower sides of guide plates, and that prevents long pin failure resulting from deflection or torsional deformation while securing a sufficient area and strength for the portion contacting a side face of a sprocket. The guide plate has a lightening hole with an upper end positioned above a pitch line, and a lower end extending out beyond lines that connect intersections between inner side edges of front and rear pin fitting holes and the pitch line, and a midpoint of a lower end edge of the guide plate in a front to back direction. Outermost portions of the lightening hole in a longitudinal direction are formed within a range that does not go beyond a pair of vertical lines vertical to the pitch line passing through the intersections.
