    Abstract: A simple-structured, easy-to-produce chain drive mechanism is provided, which can reduce the overall noise level irrespective of chain length or rpm, while suppressing noise and vibration caused by tension fluctuations and maintaining durability and service life. The engagement/seating mode between a silent chain and a driving sprocket is one of inside-flank engagement/inside-flank seating, inside-flank engagement/outside-flank seating, outside-flank engagement/inside-flank seating, and outside-flank engagement/outside-flank seating. The engagement/seating mode between the silent chain and a driven sprocket is one of inside-flank engagement/inside-flank seating, inside-flank engagement/outside-flank seating, outside-flank engagement/inside-flank seating, and outside-flank engagement/outside-flank seating. The engagement/seating mode between the chain and the driving sprocket is different from that between the chain and the driven sprocket.

    Abstract: Provided is a chain power transmission mechanism and a silent chain each having a simple configuration, easy to manufacture, and capable of reducing noise in the entire chain power transmission mechanism. Link plates of the silent chain include an inner-flank-engagement link plate which engages with a sprocket in an inner flank engagement mode and an outer-flank-engagement link plate which engages with the sprocket in an outer flank engagement mode.     Abstract: Provided is a chain power transmission mechanism and a silent chain each having a simple configuration, easy to manufacture, and capable of reducing noise in the entire chain power transmission mechanism.     Abstract: Provided is a silent chain that enables adjustment of the stiffness and balance of stiffness between upper and lower sides of guide plates, and that prevents long pin failure resulting from deflection or torsional deformation while securing a sufficient area and strength for the portion contacting a side face of a sprocket. The guide plate has a lightening hole with an upper end positioned above a pitch line, and a lower end extending out beyond lines that connect intersections between inner side edges of front and rear pin fitting holes and the pitch line, and a midpoint of a lower end edge of the guide plate in a front to back direction. Outermost portions of the lightening hole in a longitudinal direction are formed within a range that does not go beyond a pair of vertical lines vertical to the pitch line passing through the intersections.
