Abstract: [Problem] A cutting tool to which a cutting insert can be firmly fixed is provided.
[Means for Resolution] Provided is a cutting tool where a replaceable cutting insert having a hole for fixing is mountable. The cutting tool includes a main body portion, a lever, a pin, and a screw. The main body portion has a placement surface where the cutting insert is placed, a side wall coming into contact with at least one side surface of the cutting insert, a lever accommodating hole, a pin accommodating hole, and a screw accommodating hole. The screw presses a rear end portion of the pin by being tightened. A tip portion of the pin presses the lever by the rear end portion being pressed against the screw. The lever has a concave surface configured by a line segment parallel to a reference axis and, by the concave surface being pressed against the tip portion of the pin, a head protruding into the hole of the placed cutting insert presses an inner wall of the hole and presses and fixes the cutting insert against and to the placement surface and the side wall.-

Abstract: To provide a cutting insert such that a tool body can sufficiently hold the cutting insert even if one of cutting parts is broken. The cutting insert includes two side surfaces opposed to each other, a fixing hole passing through the centers of the two side surfaces, and an outer circumferential surface that is disposed between the outer circumferential edges of the two side surfaces and are connected to the outer circumferential edges of the two side surfaces. The outer circumferential surface includes four cutting parts, a first outer circumferential surface part that is disposed between the first cutting part and the second cutting part, and a second outer circumferential surface part that is opposed to the first outer circumferential surface part and is disposed between the third cutting part and the fourth cutting part. In a side view of the side surfaces from the axial direction of the fixing hole, the first outer circumferential surface part and the second outer circumferential surface part each have the center recessed toward the fixing hole, and a virtual arc having the same diameter as the diameter of the circumcircle of the cutting insert is in contact with two points on each of the outer circumferential surface parts.

Abstract: A cutting insert 2 includes an upper surface 6, a lower surface 7 on a side opposite to the upper surface 6, and a peripheral side surface 8 connecting the upper surface 6 and the lower surface 7. Abstract: A rotary cutting tool has a plurality of circumferentially spaced grooves, each having a plurality of cutting inserts mounted. Each cutting insert has a wave-shaped major cutting edge, a corner cutting edge, and a minor cutting edge. The cutting inserts are arranged such that, the phases of the waves of the rotational trajectories formed by the cutting inserts that are adjacent to each other in a direction along the tool rotational axis coincide with each other in one groove. Also, the rotational trajectories of at least part of cutting edge portions of at least some cutting inserts are overlapped with each other in the direction of the tool rotational axis. Accordingly, even when the cutting edge portion is used as a major cutting edge and as an inner cutting edge, it is still possible to reduce cutting load and suppress breakage.
