摘要： This specification discloses an automatic original conveying device for conveying a supported original to a reading position and discharging the original from the reading position after the surface to be read of the original is read. More particularly, the specification discloses an automatic original conveying device characterized by a supporting tray for supporting thereon originals in such a page order that the last page is lowermost and with the surfaces to be read of the originals facing upward, supply means for separating and feeding each lowermost one of the originals supported on the supporting tray, first guide means for reversing the original fed by the supply means and directing it to the reading position, original discharging means for discharging the original which has been directed to the reading position by the first guide means and whose surface to be read has been read, from the same side as that side on which the original has entered the reading position, and second guide means for reversing the original discharged from the reading position by the original discharging means and directing it to an original receiving portion.

摘要： A sheet stacking tray apparatus for receiving sheets discharged from an image forming apparatus such as a printer or copying machine. The sheets are correctly stacked, that is, without inclination or deviation. The tray apparatus according to the present invention is such that the speed at which the sheet is discharged to the tray apparatus is reduced when the tray apparatus receives the sheet material. And, the sheet is laterally shifted so as to correct the lateral deviation thereof. The tray is lowered in accordance with the amount of the sheets so as to keep a proper height thereof with respect to the discharging outlet from which it receives the sheet. An auxiliary sheet stacking plate is provided operable in association with the lowering of the tray so as to raise the sheet receiving side thereof so as to keep the sheet material on the tray horizontal.

It operates in a flow reading mode in which a reader is fixed and the original is shifted with respect to the reader, a fix reading scan mode in which the original is fixed at the reading position and the reader is shifted with respect to the fixed original, and a count mode in which the number of originals is counted. The original conveying speed in the fix reading scan mode is faster than the original conveying speed in the flow reading mode, and, in the count mode, the original is conveyed under the flow reading mode.

摘要： An original pressing device for use in a reading apparatus. There is a hinge together with a pressing unit supported pivotably by the hinge and pivoting between a closing position where an original on a platen is pressed and an opening position where the original is released. A coil spring is compressed with the closing operation of the pressing unit and is released from the compression along with the opening operation of the pressing unit, and a fluid damper is arranged within a hollow portion of the coil spring to provide a resistance force when the pressing unit performs the closing operation.

摘要： A reading apparatus includes an image reader for reading a sheet original positioned at a reading position and an automatic original conveyor for supplying the sheet original onto the reading position, wherein the sheet original can be read through an image flow reading mode while the sheet original is being conveyed by the automatic original conveyor by fixing the image reader at any position. The apparatus also has a convey path for directing the sheet original to the reading position, and a controller for initiating conveyance of the sheet original waiting at a predetermined position in the convey path in response to a flow reading mode start signal during the image flow reading mode and for initiating the image flow reading mode by outputting an image tip signal when a tip end of the sheet original reaches a flow reading image tip position.
