摘要： A voice coil motor assembly in a disc drive includes first and second pole pieces held in spaced relationship to one another such that a gap is defined therebetween. A permanent magnet is located on the first pole piece within the gap and a dummy magnet is located on the second pole piece across the gap from the permanent magnet. The first and second pole pieces, together with the magnet and the dummy magnet, form a magnetic circuit conducting lines of magnetic flux within the voice coil motor and across the gap. The dummy magnet acts to encourage magnetic flux to flow across the gap in a manner such that the roll and pitch torque constants of the voice coil motor are reduced.

摘要： A vibration test apparatus is disclosed. The vibration test apparatus includes a platform assembly, which receives a vibration input from a vibration source and imparts a multi-axial vibration to a test specimen on the platform assembly. In illustrated embodiments the platform assembly includes one or more platforms having an adjustable incline angle. The incline angle is adjusted to provide the desired output vibration based upon a measured or determined vibration profile and the input vibration from the vibration source.

摘要： A data storage disc rotatably mounted on a spin or spindle motor fastened to a base plate. An actuator assembly is fastened or otherwise coupled to base plate adjacent to data storage disc. The actuator assembly positions a transducer or head over a data surface of the disc. A cover above the base plate encloses the disc, the spin motor, and the actuator assembly between the cover and the base plate. A pass-through connector is positioned above and coupled to the base plate for routing electrical leads from the transducer through a preamplifier mounted above the pass through the pass-through connector to a printed circuited board located below an underside of the base plate. The cover has a surface thermally coupled to the preamplifier to conduct heat from the preamplifier.
