摘要: A heating device includes a heating rotator, a pressure rotator, a planar heater, and a holder. The pressure rotator is configured to press against the fixing rotator to form a nip through which the recording medium is conveyed. The planar heater includes a plurality of heat generators arranged side by side and at least one separation region between the plurality of heat generators. The exterior member houses at least the fixing member and the pressing member. The substrate covering member covers the relay substrate. The substrate covering member extends from and is integrated with the conveyance guide member.

摘要: A fixing device includes a first rotator and a second rotator disposed opposite the first rotator. A heater heats one of the first rotator and the second rotator. A cleaner is disposed opposite the second rotator. A temperature detector is disposed opposite the second rotator at an opposed position being within an increased conveyance span where a first sheet is conveyed and being outboard from a decreased conveyance span in an axial direction of the second rotator where a second sheet smaller than the first sheet is conveyed. The temperature detector detects a temperature of the second rotator. A mover moves the cleaner between a contact position where the cleaner contacts the surface of the second rotator and a separation position where the cleaner separates from the surface of the second rotator based on the temperature of the second rotator, that is detected by the temperature detector.

The moving assembly moves the cleaner from the separate position to the contact position while increasing and then decreasing the biasing force of the biasing member greater than the biasing force applied when the cleaner is located at the contact position.

摘要: A fixing device capable of shifting to a sleep state includes a heat source; a rotatable fixing member that is partly heated by the heat source to heat an unfixed image carrying surface of a recording medium; a rotatable pressing member that is in pressure contact with the fixing member to form a nip portion between the pressing member and the fixing member; a rotation drive unit that directly or indirectly rotates the fixing member; a temperature detecting unit that detects a temperature of the fixing member; and a controller configured to prohibit the fixing device from shifting to the sleep state when the temperature of the fixing member in a region facing the heat source is equal to or more than a predetermined temperature T1 at a point when a predetermined time period t1 has elapsed from the stop of rotation drive of the rotation drive unit.

摘要: According to an embodiment, provided is a fixing device that includes: a rotatable fixing member that heats a recording medium on a side carrying an unfixed image; a rotatable pressing member that is pressed and is contacted with the fixing member to form a nip portion between the pressing member and the fixing member; a heat source heating the fixing member; a relay switch provided in an energizing path for the heat source; a temperature detection sensor detecting a temperature of the fixing member; and a control unit that controls energization of the heat source according to the temperature detected by the temperature detection sensor. The control unit keeps the relay switch in an off state if the temperature of the fixing member is equal to or more than a predetermined temperature when the fixing member has stopped rotation.

摘要: A removable unit that is attachable to and detachable from a body of an apparatus includes a positioning projection and an upstream projection. The positioning projection projects downward to position a unit or a member located below the removable unit when the removable unit is attached to the body. The upstream projection projects more downward than the positioning projection at an upstream end of the removable unit in an attachment direction of the removable unit to the apparatus. A lower end of the positioning projection is located higher than a line connecting a lower end of the upstream projection and a lower portion of a downstream end of the removable unit in the attachment direction when viewed in a direction orthogonal to both an up and down direction and the attachment direction.
