摘要: A liquid-drop ejection device having a plurality of ejectors each having a variable-capacity ink channel. The capacity of the ink channels is variable to generate sufficient pressure to thereby eject ink in the ink channels from nozzles communicating with the ink channels onto paper or the like. The ejection device further comprises a piezoelectric transducer having a plurality of walls for separating the ink channels from one another. The walls have drive electrodes formed on upper or lower portions. The upper portions of the walls are narrower in width than the lower portions. A method of forming the ejection device comprises a first step of forming grooves including portions for receiving drive electrodes, a second step of forming the drive electrodes in the grooves and a third step of further forming the grooves to provide additional portions having widths different from the portions of the grooves formed in the first step.

摘要: An array of ink droplet ejection devices for use in a drop-on-demand type printer includes a piezoelectric transducer and a cover plate. Both the piezoelectric transducer and the cover plate are formed with a plurality of grooves in parallel to one another. The groove-formed surfaces of the piezoelectric transducer and the cover plate are engaged with each other to form a plurality of ink channels. The piezoelectric transducer and the cover plate are in surface contact with each other at the side surfaces of the respective protrusions. The protrusion of the piezoelectric transducer is uni-directionally deformable to be substantially out of surface contact with the protrusion of the cover plate. With such a construction, the individual ink channels can be operated independently of one another and ink droplets can be simultaneously ejected from the adjacent ejection devices.

摘要: A droplet ejecting device comprises a piezoelectric transducer consisting of first and second piezoelectric transducers polarized in the directions opposite to each other, the first and second piezoelectric transducers bonded to each other and having electrodes disposed at the inner and outer surfaces thereof. A member is fitted to the piezoelectric transducer to define ink chambers, the member having an orifice associated with each ink chamber. An injection controller applies an electric field to the electrode(s) associated with the predetermined ink chamber(s) so as to eject an ink droplet(s) from the ink chamber(s) through the orifice(s) in a given position. As a result, the invention provides a droplet ejecting device where an ink ejecting cycle of the array as a whole is short, the print speed is high, and electrodes can be easily manufactured.

摘要: In a droplet ejecting device capable of being driven at a low voltage and having a simple structure with low manufacturing costs, the droplet ejecting device has multiple ejectors each for changing a pressure of ink held in an ink passage by the use of a pressure generator so as to eject the ink held in the ink passage through an ejection port. The ejection ports comprise a slit disposed across the multiple ink passages and the slit is formed into a tapered cross section thereby eliminating a required process for manufacturing the same number of tapered ejection ports as that of ink passages in the prior art. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the number of manufacturing processes, manufacturing costs, and a driving voltage.

摘要: In the ink droplet jet device of the present invention having a plurality of jet units for jetting an ink in an ink channel from jet nozzles formed on a nozzle plate by changing a volume in the ink channel by using a piezoelectric transducer, two plates are bonded for forming the ink channel. Two piezoelectric ceramic plates having grooves whose widths are larger than widths of the ink channel are provided. Alternatively, one piezoelectric ceramic plate and non-piezoelectric materials can be provided on which the same grooves are formed. When the interval between adjoining ink channels becomes very small to enable an increase in a number of jet nozzles communicating with the ink channels in order to make an image formed by the jetted ink droplet an image of high resolution, the groove processing of the piezoelectric ceramic plate is facilitated because the width of grooves to be ground is very wide in comparison with a conventional device, thereby reducing manufacturing cost.

摘要: A droplet jet device for use in an ink jet printer. The device has a bottom ceramics plate into which parallel grooves for storing ink are cut. A covering plate is either fixedly or slidably mounted over the grooved side of the ceramic plate to enclose the grooves. The sidewalls of the grooves have electrodes mounted thereon. One end of each groove is connected to an opening serving as an ink jet and the other end is connected to a ink source. The ink jets may be smaller grooves connecting the grooves to a print face of the bottom ceramics plate or may be ends of smaller grooves in the cover plate, one of the smaller grooves in the cover plate partially overlapping a corresponding groove in the ceramics base plate. When a current is applied to selected electrodes, the associated walls are deformed by a piezoelectric effect to compress the groove and eject an ink droplet from the ink jet.

摘要: An ink droplet ejection array is assembled by a piezoelectric transducer and a plate member. The piezoelectric transducer has a surface formed with a plurality of ribs which define a plurality of grooves. The plate member is attached to the surface of the piezoelectric transducer to cover the grooves and to thus define a plurality of ink channels. Ink contained in the ink channel is ejected when the volume of the ink channel is instantaneously reduced resulting from deformation of the associated ribs. The plate member is flexible to the deformation of the ribs so as not to restrain the deformation thereof.

摘要: In a piezoelectric ink jet printer head having a laminated piezoelectric layer, actuating voltage is applied between only electrodes corresponding to a selected jetting device. A part of the piezoelectric ceramic layers between the electrodes is deformed in accordance with a slip effect, to jet ink from the selected jetting device. Since the polarization direction of the piezoelectric ceramic layers is almost perfectly perpendicular to the direction of an actuating electric field, the actuating voltage can be reduced. Further, piezoelectric ceramic layers can be stacked to obtain the necessary strength of a laminated piezoelectric element without decreasing the displacement amount. Thus, the reliability of the laminated piezoelectric element is enhanced. Moreover, the insulation of the electrodes is not deteriorated by a short circuit, migration of silver or the like. Such properties as durability and moisture resistance are also enhanced. Therefore, the printer head of the invention requires no components for preventing the deterioration of the insulation needed for prior art printer heads. The printer head can be thus made compact and lightweight, reducing the manufacturing cost.

摘要: A piezoelectric ink droplet ejecting device drivable with a low voltage, simple in structure, less costly to manufacture and capable of producing printed data with high resolution. A piezoelectric ink droplet ejecting device has a plurality of ink ejectors each composed of a piezoelectric transducer for varying the volume of an ink passage to eject ink out of the ink passage. A single piezoelectric ceramic panel which is polarized in a thickness direction has a plurality of through holes parallel to the polarized direction. The through holes serve as ink passages. When a driving electric field is applied in a direction perpendicular to the polarized direction, the piezoelectric ceramic panel is elastically deformed under thickness shear effect, thus varying the volume of the ink passages to eject ink droplets therefrom.
