    摘要: In a mobile communication system, each base station is provided with an array antenna, a section for estimating the respective directions of one or more mobile stations with which the base station is in communication, based on estimated incoming directions of radio waves received from these mobile stations, and sections for operating on respective signals of the antenna elements constituting the array antenna such as to shape the radiation pattern of the antenna to form peaks of directivity which are oriented in the estimated directions of these mobile stations, and can include a capability for shaping these peaks in accordance with estimated positions of these mobile stations, thereby minimizing interference between transmissions from that base station and communication being executed between other adjacent stations of the system, and minimizing the number of different transmission frequencies required in the overall system.

    摘要: A direction of arrival (DOA) estimation apparatus of the present invention comprises a plurality of A/D converters that converts a plurality of complex base band signal obtained from the receiving signals of a plurality of antenna elements to respective complex digital signals, a plurality of low pass filters that outputs complex low pass signals with attenuated high frequency components of respective complex digital signals, a plurality of down samplers that outputs complex down sampled and multiplied signals by down sampling the complex low pass signals and multiplying by integral number of sampling intervals of respective A/D converters, and a data transfer section that stores respective complex down sampled signal thus obtained from respective antenna elements temporary and then transfers the data. A variable directional signal receiving and transmitting apparatus of the present invention performs an antenna directivity control based on the output data from the above data transfer section. With the composition of the present invention, an amount of data required for a DOA estimation process section is decreased and a composition of a data transfer section is simplified. With the composition of the present invention, a deterioration of an accuracy of direction estimation becomes minimum despite the simplification of the apparatus. Furthermore, a favorable receiving and transmitting quality is obtained by applying the DOA estimation apparatus for a transmitting and receiving apparatus.

    摘要: The direction-of arrival estimation by means of a subspace-based algorithm such as MUSIC or ESPRIT is formed by using reduced-bandwidth signals as compared with communication signal waves. The narrower-bandwidth signals is obtained by each mobile telephone transmitting a modulated version of a lower-transmission rate test signal as well as a communication signal wave or by band-pass filtering the received communication signal waves in a base station. A direction-of-arrival estimation is formed by using a reduced number of signals for the direction-of arrival estimation. The number of direction-of-arrival estimating signals is reduced by discarding a part of the received signals, by multiplexing the received signals by the sub-array and forming a direction-of arrival estimation for each sub-array, or by using an additional array antenna having a reduced number of elements.
