摘要: A projector 1 detects a luminance distribution in an effective video period of an inputted video luminance signal, and a coefficient calculating circuit 302 calculates a correction coefficient Ci to correct a gradation (FIG. 6A). Then, surrounding brightness is detected, and the correction coefficient Ci is adjusted based on the surrounding brightness to obtain an adjusted correction coefficient Ci′ (FIG. 6B). As shown in FIG. 6C, a luminance can be raised to Q according to a brightness signal even for a pixel of a lowest input luminance by adjusting the correction coefficient. Other correction coefficients in a range of 0 to 255 before adjustment are proportionally distributed to a range of 0 to 255-Q, and added with a correction coefficient Q. A luminance of each pixel which belongs to the effective video period of the video luminance signal is adjusted using the adjusted correction coefficient.

摘要: Correlation of videos between fields is determined between a difference between an input interlaced signal and a signal that is delayed by one field with respect to the input interlaced signal. Correlation among N-1 sequential fields is compared with a predetermined pattern to determine whether the input interlaced signal is unquestionably a telecine-converted signal, whether it is unquestionably not a telecine-converted signal, or whether it cannot be said to be unquestionably a telecine-converted signal. If a determination of being unquestionably a telecine-converted signal is continued for a predetermined number or more of fields, an instruction signal, which instructs to perform inter-field interpolation on the input interlaced signal, is outputted.

摘要: A projection image display device has a plurality of light sources, a phosphor layer that emits light through excitation by at least any one of the light sources, an optical section, a temperature detector, a light-source intensity controller, an amplitude controller, a luminance controller. The optical section determines an optical path of light emitted from the light sources and the phosphor layer. The temperature detector directly or indirectly detects temperature of the phosphor layer or of the periphery of the phosphor layer. The light-source intensity controller controls intensity of an excitation light source that excites the phosphor layer. The amplitude controller controls the amplitude of a projection image signal. The luminance controller controls luminance of projection images by switching the light-source intensity controller and the amplitude controller according to a detected temperature.
