摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a first sheet path, a first sheet transfer mechanism, an ejection mechanism, a second sheet path, and a sheet flipping mechanism. The first sheet path is in a first side of the image forming apparatus. The first sheet transfer mechanism sends recording sheets from a sheet cassette through the first sheet path. The ejection mechanism switches between an ejection process and a duplex recording process. The second sheet path receives the recording sheet from the ejection mechanism and returns it to the image recording mechanism. The second sheet path is on the other side of the apparatus than the first side in which the first sheet path is arranged. The sheet flipping mechanism flips the recording sheet and has a flipping space in which the recording sheet is flipped without coming outside of the image forming apparatus. The ejection mechanism, the second sheet path, and the sheet flipping mechanism are located in a separate add-on unit. The second sheet path has openable/closable side guides for operator access.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a main body housing including a plurality of walls, a duplex unit openably provided to one of the walls of the main body housing, that reverses a recording medium, and a handle that advances from and retracts to the wall of the main body housing including the duplex unit. The duplex unit includes a pocket which is a clearance formed in the advancing/retracting direction and a direction perpendicular to and adjoining the advancing/retracting direction of the handle so as to expose the handle inside the duplex unit. A front end of the handle in the advancing direction thereof is positioned at a retracted position when the handle is retracted to the pocket and positioned at an advanced position outside the duplex unit when the handle is pulled out from the retracted position.

The elevated supporters supports both lateral rim portions of the front member at a given position of the pair of elevated supporters. The front member is indirectly fixed with the base member via the elevated supporters, and positions the functional unit at a given position.

The pressing mechanism presses the process cartridge in a direction angled with respect to a line connecting a center of the main reference portion with a contact position where the pressing mechanism contacts the process cartridge.
