Abstract: Reckless behavior of drivers like, speeding, sudden acceleration and swerving through lanes can cause fatality and financial loss. Conventional methods mainly focus on driving style classification. The conventional methods mainly focus on driver classification and are not able to provide trip classification of a driver. Hence there is a challenge in trip classification of the driver based on acceleration data. The present disclosure for trip classification addresses the problem of end to end trip classification based on the acceleration data. Here, a journey is segmented into a plurality of sub-journey segments and each sub-journey segment is associated with a plurality of driving events. An event score is calculated for each sub-journey and a normalization is performed on the event score. Further, the journey is classified into at least one of good, average or bad based on the normalized data by utilizing a fuzzy based classification.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to a method and system for online handwritten signature verification providing a simpler low cost system. The method comprises extracting signature data for the subject from a sensor array for the predefined time window at regular predefined time instants. Further, differentiating the matrix row wise and column wise to generate a row difference matrix and a column difference matrix. Further, determining an idle signature time fraction for the extracted signature data of the subject being monitored from the column difference matrix. Further, determining a plurality of signature parameters based on the row difference matrix and the column difference matrix. Further, analyzing the idle signature time fraction and the plurality of signature parameters of the subject being monitored based on a Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier, wherein the SVM classifier performs online classification of the extracted signature data into one of a matching signature class and a non-matching signature class.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides means for detecting and tracking a moving object using RADAR and ultrasonic sensors. A stationary RADAR detects the moving object and estimates speed and two rotating ultrasonic sensors determine distance of the detected object. An incrementally changing orientation of the ultrasound sensors is associated with an angular speed of rotation based on a last logged distance of the moving object from the ultrasound sensors. Once the moving object is detected, based on an adaptively changing sampling frequency, the moving object is continuously tracked in real time. Conventionally, multiple RADARs are needed for location estimation and motion tracking. Also, merely using a RADAR in combination with an ultrasound sensor also does not serve the purpose since both sensors are static. The present disclosure provides a simple cost effective alternative that can find application in say tracking of an elderly person living alone in an unobtrusive manner.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to driver profiling, and more particularly to system and method for driver profiling corresponding to automobile trip. In one embodiment, the method includes selectively computing, based on GPS data captured during a trip, features such that a first set of features are computed at a computation device and a second set of features are computed at a cloud server. The first and second set of features differs in computational complexity level. Said features include statistical data for attributes computed from the GPS data. The features corresponding to the trip are stored at repository associated with the cloud server. The repository includes previously precomputed features data associated with a set of driver profiles for previously completed trips. A driver profile corresponding to the trip is identified from amongst the set of driver profiles based on comparison of the plurality of features and the previously computed features data.

Abstract: A method and system for determining a speed of a vehicle based on a GPS speed captured from a Global Positioning System (GPS). A capturing module captures GPS speed Vx and a horizontal accuracy value corresponding to a time stamp Tx. A speed modification module modifies the GPS speed Vx corresponding to the time stamp Tx. A speed correcting module corrects the GPS speed Vx corresponding to the time stamp Tx. The GPS speed may be corrected by filtering an error in the GPS speed by using a Slope dependent averaging (SDA) filter in order to obtain a first corrected speed Vx′. Further, the first corrected speed is corrected by selecting one of a center weight (CW) filter and an edge weight (EW) filter, based upon a pre-defined condition, in order to obtain a second corrected speed Vx″ indicating the speed of the vehicle.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling a speed of a vehicle. Acceleration data comprising acceleration samples of the vehicle on a segment of the road is captured. Jerk energy values associated with the vehicle on the segment is computed based upon the acceleration samples. Median jerk energy of the vehicle on the segment may be determined based upon the jerk energy values. Predictive median jerk energy of the vehicle on the segment is computed using a statistical equation. A score associated with the segment is calculated based upon the median jerk energy, the predictive median jerk energy, and a standard deviation (σ). The segment is classified into one of a first set of categories and a second set of categories based upon the score. A feedback signal indicative of controlling the speed of the vehicle is transmitted to a controller based upon the classification.

Abstract: While performing heart rate estimation of a user, if the user is in motion, a signal is measured and is likely to have noise data, which in turn affects accuracy of estimated heart rate value. Method and system for heart rate estimation when the user is in motion is disclosed. The system estimates value of a noise signal present in a measured PPG signal by performing a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) of an accelerometer signal collected along with the PPG signal. The system further estimates value of a true cardiac signal for a time window, based on value of the true cardiac signal in a pre-defined number of previous time windows. The system then estimates frequency spectrum of a clean PPG signal based on the estimated noise signal and the true cardiac signal. The system further performs heart rate estimation based on the clean PPG signal.
