    摘要: Two gaseous raw glass materials containing dopants to provide different refractive indices and borne by an argon carrier are jetted from the central or inner and first concentric nozzles 11, 12 of a five tip burner 1; an argon shield is supplied through the second concentric nozzle 13, and hydrogen and oxygen are supplied through the third and fourth concentric nozzles 14, 15, respectively. Soot-like glass particles 4 are formed by flame hydrolysis and deposited on the lower end of a start rod 3 which is gradually rotated and withdrawn to thus grow a cylindrical preform 2. The intermixing of the particles formed from the two glass materials produces a preform having a substantially parabolic radial index of refraction distribution, which characteristic is retained in an optical communication fiber formed by sintering and drawing the preform.

    摘要: A fastening member according to the invention includes right and left sewn areas which are sewn to one member out of a cushion member and a cover material, a hook-and-loop fastener area which is disposed between the right and left sewn areas and which has a plurality of female engagement elements formed on one face thereof, and a connection area which connects between the hook-and-loop fastener area and the respective sewn areas. Here, the connection area is configured to have a lower yarn density than that of the sewn areas and allows the hook-and-loop fastener area to be displaced relatively to the sewn areas. According to the fastening member of the invention, since the fastened cover material can be easily displaced against the cushion member, wrinkling occurrence at the cover material can be prevented when the cover material is assembled to the cushion member.

    摘要: A spool for winding thereon a flexible elongate material includes a hollow cylindrical body having an elongate radial opening defined axially in the annular peripheral wall of the spool body for providing a passage of a holding means for automatically holding a leading end of the elongate material on the spool body. A winding apparatus includes a pair of oppositely disposed first and second drive shafts for holding the spool therebetween. The holding means is associated with the first drive shaft and cooperative with the radial opening in the spool body in effecting the holding of the leading end. The holding means is either the pneumatic type or the mechanical type. The pneumatic holder means produces a negative pressure in the axial hole in the spool body to create a suction force acting around the radial opening in the spool body. Due to the negative pressure thus produced, the leading end of the elongate material is sucked toward the radial opening and then adhered to the annular wall of the spool body. The mechanical holding means includes a row of locking needles movably mounted in an end portion of the first drive shaft so as to selectively project outwardly beyond the annular wall through the radial opening of the spool body.

    摘要: A spool for winding thereon a flexible elongate material includes a hollow cylindrical body having an elongate radial opening defined axially in the annular peripheral wall of the spool body for providing a passage of a holding means for automatically holding a leading end of the elongate material on the spool body.     摘要: In a packaging structure, a tongue-like portion is formed in one end portion of a base to extend toward an end of the one end portion. A wristwatch, having a pair of watchbands with a band keeper being provided on one of the bands, is placed on the base, and the tongue-like portion is inserted into an opening of the band keeper through a gap of the band keeper and the corresponding watchband. A pillow portion is formed in the one end portion of the base at a region which is nearer to the end of the one end portion than the tongue-like portion. The pillow portion covers the tongue-like portion, and an extending end of the one of the watchbands lays on the pillow portion in a longitudinal direction of the base.
