摘要: Portable electronic equipment includes a carried-by-user detector for detecting whether the electronic equipment is in a state carried by a user or not. When the electronic equipment is in a state not carried by the user, i.e., when the user is not employing the electronic equipment, an operating mode is shifted from a normal operating mode to a power saving mode to reduce power consumption of the electronic equipment. Useless consumption of power during non-use of the electronic equipment can be thus reduced. Further, in electronic equipment (timepiece) incorporating a power generator for generating power by converting first energy (motion, pressure or heat) into electric energy as second energy, whether the power generator is generating power, i.e., whether the electronic equipment is carried by the user, is detected by a power generation detecting circuit, and when a non-power-generation time exceeds a predetermined time, the operating mode is shifted to the power saving mode, thereby reducing power consumption. Accordingly, the electronic equipment (timepiece) can be provided with which when the electronic equipment is in the state not carried by the user or when the electronic equipment is in the state not carried by the user and in a state of not generating power, the operating mode of the electronic equipment is shifted to the power saving mode and energy can be saved without inconveniencing the user.

摘要: An oscillation circuit 80 produces an oscillation signal in accordance with the oscillation frequency of a quartz oscillator 81, and a frequency dividing circuit 90 divides the frequency of the oscillation signal to produce a sampling clock CKs having a duty ratio of 1/8. A constant-voltage circuit 70 is operated during the period in which the sampling clock CKs takes an “H” level, and is stopped during the period in which the sampling clock CKs takes an “L” level. During the period in which the constant-voltage circuit 70 stops the operation, a voltage Vreg affected by fluctuations in a second lower potential side voltage Vss2 is generated. However, since the cycle of the sampling clock CKs is short, a fluctuation width of the voltage Vreg is suppressed. Power consumption of the constant-voltage circuit 70 is reduced.

摘要: When an electronic timepiece is in a power-saving mode in which the current time display is suspended, it is determined whether or not the charge voltage supplied from a high-capacity capacitor is higher than a predetermined reference voltage, and if higher, enough electrical energy is stored in the high-capacity capacitor to return from the power-saving mode to the display mode, so that a current time restoration process is performed upon detecting power generation. On the other hand, if the charge voltage is less than or equal to the predetermined reference voltage, the supply of the power supply voltage to the control circuits is stopped to prevent the electrical energy stored in the high-capacity capacitor from being consumed needlessly. As a result, the electronic timepiece can be reactivated quickly when the power generating device begins to generate power.

摘要: An electronic timepiece with internal antenna maintains sufficiently high reception performance of circularly polarized waves even when having a metal external case. The timepiece has a cylindrical case; a crystal that covers the opening on the face side of the case; a drive mechanism that arranged inside the case; a metal antenna; and a dielectric. The antenna houses the drive mechanism and has a cylindrical side part, a bottom part that covers the opening on the back side of the side part, and an antenna electrode that contacts the inside of the side part. The back cover covers the back side of the case and is also the bottom part. The dielectric extends circumferentially to the side part, and contacts the antenna electrode in the face-back cover direction. A slot extending circumferentially is formed in the antenna electrode. Part or all of the slot is covered by the dielectric.

摘要: A positioning device has a reception unit for receiving navigation messages transmitted continuously in a time series from positioning information satellites orbiting the Earth and determines the location of the positioning device based on the navigation messages received by the transmission unit. Each navigation message is segmented into a plurality of data transmission blocks that are transmitted sequentially, a portion of the data transmission blocks carry almanac data containing orbital information for all positioning information satellites including the positioning information satellite transmitting the received navigation message, and the data transmission blocks carrying the almanac data are transmitted non-contiguously. The positioning device also has signal discrimination unit for identifying the start of receiving a data transmission block containing the non-contiguously transmitted almanac data, and identifying the end of receiving the data transmission block containing the almanac data. The reception unit intermittently receives the signals of the data transmission blocks containing the almanac data by receiving the navigation messages in the reception time of the data transmission blocks containing the almanac data identified by the signal discrimination unit.
