    摘要: An apparatus and method are disclosed for an electronic device (100) to incorporate two housing members (104, 106) to expose a first portion (112) of a display or screen (110) when closed. When the two members (104, 106) are moved to open the housing (102) the display or screen (110) is moved to a position angularly displaced from its former position with respect to the housing (102). A second portion (114) of the screen (110), larger than the first portion (112), is exposed and used for displaying text, images or other graphics.

The first extendable interlocking part (402) includes a left half of a QWERTY keyboard (e.g., Q, W, E, R, T) while the second extendable interlocking part (404) includes a right half of a QWERTY keyboard (e.g., Y, U, I, O, P). When the compact input device (104) is in an extended and aligned configuration, the keys of the first extendable interlocking part (402) and the keys of the second extendable interlocking part (404) form a common QWERTY keyboard configuration.

    摘要: A portable electronic device including a transparent display module, and a method of incorporating a transparent display module into a portable electronic device, are provided. The portable electronic device includes a front side surface which is intended to be primarily used facing toward a principal user and a back side surface, which is intended to be primarily used facing away from the principal user. The portable electronic device includes a transparent display module including a primary light emitting transparent display having a first side surface and a second side surface, which emits a light toward each of the first side surface and the second side surface in disproportionate amounts, where an amount of light emitted toward the first side surface is less than an amount of light emitted toward the second side surface. The transparent display module is mounted in the portable electronic device, so that the first side surface of the transparent display module which emits the lesser amount of light is oriented toward the front side surface of the portable electronic device, and the second side surface of the transparent display module which emits the greater amount of light is oriented toward the back side surface of the portable electronic device.

    摘要: A method and hand held electronic device are provided for performing a dual sided gesture on respective touch sensitive surfaces of a hand held electronic device. The method includes displaying an object on a display screen of the hand held electronic device, that is viewable from at least one side of the hand held electronic device. A virtual center of gravity associated with the displayed object is then defined. Simultaneous gestures are then received tracking the position and movement of an end of a pointer on each of a pair of respective surfaces of the hand held electronic device, each surface having a corresponding touch sensitive input. The location and movement of each gesture is then compared relative to the defined virtual center of gravity, and the displayed object is repositioned in response to the location and movement of each gesture relative to the defined virtual center of gravity.
