摘要： A set of managed application programming interfaces (APIs) are presented to allow management of a user's name and identity within a peer to peer networking environment. These managed APIs enable a user to successfully create and manage their peer names and identities within this environment. The creation of peer names for the purpose of resolving to a third party is also provided through the managed APIs of the invention. Importing and exporting of peer identities is also provided, as is the ability to delete a peer identity.

摘要： The managed system and methods of the present invention are segmented into 3 main areas: Clouds, Registrations, and Resolvers. The cloud object provides information about the clouds that are available. If a could is available, the Registration object can be used to register endpoints with the P2P name resolution protocol. Finally, if an application developer wishes to resolve a peer name to an IP address, they simply use the resolver object. The clouds may be monitored for state changes in one embodiment of the present invention through a CloudWatcher object.

摘要： A system and method to improve the transparency and security of an election are provided. In a first version, a tabulation system includes a paper ballot reader. The ballot reader informs a computational engine of the tabulation system in a digital data format of an informational pattern detected on each paper ballot. The computational engine processes the information provided by the ballot reader in accordance with a system software and in light of instruction and data inputs. The system software and a history of the tabulation system operations are provided as public rectory. The history may include the ballot reader output, computational activity of the tabulation system, computational results of the tabulation system, and instruction and data inputs.
