    摘要: The fluid reservoir of a hydraulic system is fitted with a nozzle having a constricted primary discharge opening for directing an accelerated jet stream of hydraulic fluid returned to the reservoir from a pump back to an inlet of the pump. The jet stream aspirates additional fluid from the reservoir to boost the supply to the pump to minimize cavitation for quiet operation. The nozzle includes at least one bleed hole located upstream of the primary discharge opening through which a fraction of the fluid stream escapes into the reservoir and is permitted to dwell for a time sufficient to allow natural separation of entrained gas from the fractional stream before being drawn into the reservoir outlet by the jet stream.

    摘要: The pump has a multi-vane rotor operating within a cam ring to pump oil to a component such as a power steering gear. The pump rotor sandwiched between stationary thrust and pressure plates is supplied with oil from a surrounding fluid chamber through aligned intake ports in the two plates. Fluid chambers formed between the reciprocating vanes of the rotor discharges oil into axially aligned discharge ports of the thrust and pressure plates. The discharge port of the thrust plate is hydraulically connected to the discharge port of the pressure plate . Pressure oil in the discharge port of the pressure plate feeds into a system pressure chamber outboard of the pressure plate. Oil in the system pressure chamber is fed back to a first side chamber of the rotor through at least one simple flow passage in the pressure plate. The first side chamber is formed between inner and outer lands on the rotor. A second side chamber is similarly formed on the opposite side of the rotor and is hydraulically interconnected to the first side chamber by the undervane passages. With the pump rotating, the undervane chambers are pressurized by the supply of pressure oil to the side chambers through the straight through passage in the pressure plate to assure engagement of the vanes with the operative surface of the cam ring.

A first thrust face of the thrust plate is pressed against an end wall of a cavity of a pump housing in which the components are installed. Fluid at the discharge pressure is ported to one or more balance chambers between the thrust plate and the end wall of the housing. The balance chambers are defined by a gasket received in a groove of the first thrust face. Fluid at the discharge pressure within the balance chamber balances a fraction of the pressure force on the thrust plate on an opposite second thrust face thereof attributable to fluid discharged from a rotor chamber in which the rotor operates, in order to place the thrust plate in axial static equilibrium.

    摘要: A motor vehicle hydraulic system including a power steering pump, a reservoir, a steering assist fluid motor, and a second fluid motor for a radiator cooling fan. A flow control valve remote from the power steering pump divides the total fluid flow from the power steering pump into a high flow branch and a low flow branch. Fluid circulates in the low flow branch at a substantially constant flow rate for a proportional control valve for the steering assist fluid motor and returns to the reservoir through an unrestricted tubular boss on the reservoir. Fluid in the high flow branch issues as a jet stream from a nozzle on the reservoir into a venturi passage submerged in fluid in the reservoir. The venturi passage is connected to an inlet port of the power steering pump. The jet stream aspirates fluid from the reservoir into the venturi passage. The kinetic energy of the jet stream is converted into superatmospheric pressure at the inlet port of the power steering pump to suppress cavitation. Fluid from the low flow branch dwells in the reservoir for a time duration adequate for natural release therefrom of any entrained gas bubbles.
