    摘要: A battery-powered RF sensor is provided for use in security and alarm systems for monitoring alarm state conditions, and transmitting an alarm state detection signal upon detection of an alarm state condition. The RF sensor is constructed to include an RF transmitting portion, a battery, a low-battery voltage level detection portion and a counter for periodically detecting an output voltage level of the battery, and comparing the voltage level to a first threshold voltage. If the detected battery output voltage level is determined to be less than the first threshold voltage, the low- or depleted-battery state is not immediately reported, but is reported at another time if the low-battery condition persists. That is, the low battery condition would preferably not be reported until daytime hours, other than for a dead battery condition. The reporting control is implemented by use of the low-battery voltage detection portion, which looks to a counter to determine the elapsed time since the low- or depleted-battery condition is detected. If the low- or depleted-battery condition persists until the counter counts down, the condition is automatically reported.

The system and method enable the buddy security system in which messages can be exchanged between two distinct security systems. The inventive system is operable on a network having dynamic IP addresses using a centralized database of real time IP addresses. An MSO maintains the centralized database including basic information for connecting the control panels of the security systems to each other. The first and second security systems each have a control panel having a dynamic IP address; the control panel of the second system provides information to and can be controlled by the control panel of the first system. The dynamically IP address of each control panel is obtained from the centralized database.

The adaptive console also has a processing unit which translates the identification and status information from the radio frequency signal to corresponding function data derived from a mapping of valid identification and status information to function data, the function data emulating data generated by keypresses on a keypad that is representative of a function to be performed by the security system. The adaptive console also has a transmitter which transmits a signal over a wired connection which includes the corresponding function data to the central control unit or a wired security unit. The adaptive console may additionally have components enabling it to receive a signal from a wired connection, translate that signal to valid identification and status information, and then transmit a second radio frequency signal to the wireless remote units. Alternatively, the central control unit may contain the mapping and perform the translation from valid identification and status information to function data.

    摘要: A method for increasing the dynamic range of the receiver/control unit of an alarm system. The alarm system comprises the receiver/control unit, the receiver comprising at least one antenna apparatus and apparatus for switching the antenna apparatus. The control unit, or processing apparatus, comprises signal detection apparatus and apparatus for controlling the antenna apparatus switching. The method comprises the steps of selecting an input to the receiver, wherein the input maybe an output of one or more antenna apparatus or no antenna apparatus, and detecting the presence of a signal. The basis of the apparatus alarm system is the selection of no antenna, which causes the receiver to be approximately 12 dB less sensitive. The switching of the antenna apparatus is preferably accomplished by processor control of switching diodes. This allows the receiver to detect signals from remote transmitting devices located nearby without saturating the receiver, thereby increasing the dynamic range of the receiver/control unit.
