摘要: A belt deviation detection device detects lateral displacement of a rotary belt in a width direction of the belt. The belt deviation detection device includes a contact member in contact with the belt at a contact portion of the contact member, a biasing member configured to bias the contact member toward the belt to press the contact member against the belt, and a displacement detector configured to detect the displacement of the belt in the width direction of the belt. The contact member is configured to track the displacement of the belt in the width direction of the belt. The contact member is made of a metal material, and a hardening treatment is applied to at least the contact portion of the contact member.

A slider, in which a magnetic core is incorporated, is fixed by adhesive to a gimbal with a hole formed on the side of the gimbal in contact with the magnetic core. 摘要: A transfer device includes an image bearer and a transfer rotator. The transfer device further includes an adjuster including a rotatable cam and an opposed member opposed to the cam. The cam alternately contacts and separates the transfer rotator against and from the image bearer, having a continuous sloped surface with a plurality of positions, each position to contact the opposed member to obtain a different amount of separation between the image bearer and the transfer rotator. The transfer device further includes a controller to control the adjuster to adjust the amount of separation between the transfer rotator and the image bearer according to thickness or type of the recording medium when the recording medium starts to enter the transfer nip.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image bearer, a nip forming device, a contact-and-separation device, a thickness information retrieving device, and a controller. The contact-and-separation device moves the image bearer and the nip forming device to contact and separate from each other. The controller controls the contact-and-separation device based on information on a thickness of a recording medium obtained by the thickness information retrieving device such that in a case in which a thickness of a preceding recording medium and a thickness of a successive recording medium are different in continuous printing in which a plurality of recording media is printed out continuously, the contact-and-separation device adjusts a space between the image bearer and the nip forming device when the preceding recording medium exits the transfer nip to a preset size corresponding to the thickness of the successive recording medium that enters the transfer nip.
