摘要: A restraint system for a motor vehicle includes a plurality of sensors for sensing vehicle conditions of restraint deployment thresholds. The restraint system also includes an electronic controller electrically connected to the sensors for determining whether one of the sensors experiences sufficient deceleration. The restraint system further includes at least one inflatable restraint operatively connected to the electronic controller for deployment thereby in a first stage if the deceleration warrants a first stage deployment and in a second stage if the deceleration warrants a second stage deployment when the sensors sense vehicle conditions achieving the restraint deployment thresholds to restrain an occupant in a seat of the motor vehicle.

摘要: A crash control system for vehicles employs pre-crash surrogate signals to predict a potential crash. The predictive signals may be generated by activation of the vehicle's anti-lock brakes, or by a sensor that detects rate of brake pedal travel indicating panic braking or by advanced radar systems. The pre-crash signals may be used to ready various safety systems on the vehicle, such as chassis and suspension systems, dynamic body systems, interior occupant protection systems and other systems that function to improve vehicle's crash worthiness or assist in improving vehicle stability or control. The pre-crash signals may also be used to modify the normal trigger points of safety systems to improve the timing of their response.

摘要: A side impact collision sensing system 10 for use on a vehicle 12. System 10 includes several door mounted impact sensors 18-24 and a sensor 26 which is disposed in relative close proximity to the center of the vehicle's passenger compartment 52. System 10 determines whether a side impact collision has occurred or is occurring and selectively activates one or more restraint assemblies 28-34 if such a determination is made. System 10 reduces the likelihood of a false and/or unnecessary activation of restraint assemblies 28-34 by using sensors 18-24 and sensor 26 in a distributed algorithm to detect side impact collisions.

摘要: A plurality of first accelerometers are positioned forward of the passenger compartment and interconnected between vehicular ground and an airbag ignitor. At least one second accelerometer is positioned with the passenger compartment and electrically connected in series between the airbag ignitor and a reserve source of electrical power thereby providing a first firing path. Electronic circuitry positioned within the passenger compartment and connected to the airbag ignitor provides a second firing path through the ignitor to a passenger compartment ground independent of the vehicular ground which the first accelerometers are connected. This second conductive path is provided for a predetermined or dwell time in response to actuation by any of the first accelerometers. The electrical circuitry also includes prefiltering circuitry.
