    摘要: The present invention includes barrier coatings and methods for reducing or preventing chemical reaction between the discharge medium and arc tube wall material in discharge lamps. The barrier coatings comprise nitride layer exposed to the discharge medium formed from one or more of aluminum, boron, scandium, yttrium, or the lanthanides. In another aspect, the present invention includes methods of forming coatings on the inner wall of arc tubes by introducing two or more precursors into the arc tube chamber and pyrolitically reacting the precursors to form layers for the coating.

A method is provided for protecting a portion of the metallic foil from corrosion prior to forming the pinch seal by coating at least a portion of the foil with a film comprising silica, and applying a refractory abhesive to at least a portion of the film.

    摘要: The invention relates to a system and method for monitoring light using a photosensitive mast mounted on a support or machine. A light signal, such as a laser, is detected by the photosensitive mast which has a plurality of optical fibers distributed longitudinally along and completely around the mast. The optical fibers are of lengths which differ by very small amounts, thereby creating any desired resolution of the photosensitive mast. The optical fibers are connected to a collecting device for gathering the light signals and determining the position of the light measuring device relative to the rotating laser light source.
