摘要: An environmental barrier coating system for a turbine component, including an environmental barrier layer applied to a turbine component substrate containing silicon; the environmental barrier layer comprising an oxide matrix surrounding a fiber-reinforcement structure and a self-healing phase interspersed throughout the oxide matrix; wherein the fiber-reinforcement structure comprises at least one first fiber bundle oriented along a load bearing stress direction of said turbine component substrate; wherein the fiber-reinforcement structure comprises at least one second fiber bundle oriented orthogonal to the at least one first fiber bundle orientation; wherein the fiber-reinforcement structure comprises at least one third fiber woven between the at least one first fiber bundle and the at least one second fiber bundle.

摘要: An airfoil includes an airfoil body that has a trailing edge region. The trailing edge region includes first and second monolithic ceramic exterior walls, a flow discharge passage between the first and second monolithic ceramic exterior walls, a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) liner at least a portion of which is disposed in the flow discharge passage between the first and second monolithic ceramic exterior walls, and an array of pedestals disposed in the flow discharge passage. Each of the flow guides bridges the CMC liner and at least one of the first and second monolithic ceramic exterior walls.

摘要: A method of making a transparent article includes mixing an oxygen source, a nitrogen source, a magnesium source, a silicon source and a calcium source. The oxygen source, the nitrogen source, the magnesium source, the silicon source, and the calcium source are milled and heated to form a molten oxynitride glass modified by calcium and magnesium. The molten oxynitride glass modified by calcium and magnesium is then cooled to form a transparent body having ballistic resistance with a level of performance satisfying Level IV of National Institute of Justice Standard 0108.01. Transparent articles having transparent bodies formed from the oxynitride glass are also described.

摘要: A variable vane system includes an outer platform, an inner casing radially inward from the outer casing and a vane extending between the inner and outer casings defining a vane axis. An inner vane stem is engaged with the inner casing and an outer vane stem is engaged with the outer casing. The system includes a bearing gap defined radially with respect to the vane axis between each of the inner and outer casings and respective vane stems for allowing the vane to rotate about the vane axis for varying angle of attack. The system includes a pressurized air supply inlet in fluid communication with at least one of the bearing gaps to form a stem air bearing to intermittently float at least one of the vane stems for controlled rotation about the vane axis.

摘要: A variable vane system includes an outer platform defining a centerline axis, an inner platform radially inward from the outer platform with respect to the centerline axis and a vane extending between the inner and outer platforms defining a vane axis. The vane has an inner vane stem and an opposed outer vane stem. The inner vane stem is engaged with the inner platform and the outer vane stem is engaged with the outer platform. 摘要: A method of removing a core of a cast component includes providing a casting that includes a silica based ceramic core in a temperature controlled closed volume; cycling temperature between a first temperature and a second temperature within the temperature controlled closed volume that repeatedly subjects the silica based ceramic core to a beta-to-alpha cristobalite transition that induces microfractures in the silica based ceramic core; and after the cycling temperature, chemically dissolving the silica based ceramic core from the casting.
