    摘要： A system and method applies a plurality of stretched elastic strands onto a substrate such as along a predetermined non-linear path, to form a leg gather of a disposable absorbent personal hygiene product. The system includes an adhesive dispensing module for individually applying adhesive to the elastic strands. A heated strand guide located downstream of the dispensing module includes guide openings for the respective elastic strands. A drive mechanism coupled to the strand guide actuates movement of the strand guide in a direction transverse to the movement direction of the substrate, thereby causing the elastic strands to be applied to the substrate along the predetermined non-linear path.

A second pipe, a dispersion slit for elastics and convergence slits for elastics define a second flow channels wherein the slits are respectively formed with outlets for elastics. The outlets for elastics are formed in the respective guide grooves and each of the outlets for a web lies between each pair of the adjacent outlets for elastics as viewed in the cross direction CD.

The nozzle assembly includes a first conduit configured to receive a first fluid from the applicator head, a second conduit configured to receive a second fluid from the applicator head and an application conduit including a receptacle and first and second branches. The receptacle is fluidically connected with the first conduit and configured to receive the first fluid. The first and second branches are fluidically connected to the second conduit and receptacle and are configured to receive the second fluid. The nozzle assembly further includes an orifice fluidically connected to the application conduit and configured to discharge the first fluid for application onto a strand of material, and a guide slot extending from the orifice and configured to receive the strand of material.

The nozzle assembly includes a guide slot configured to receive a strand of material and an orifice configured to discharge a first fluid on to the strand. The strand engagement device is secured to the applicator head and includes an actuating assembly and an engagement arm connected to the actuating assembly. The engagement arm is configured to engage the strand and move between a first position and a second position in response to actuation of the actuating assembly. The method of controlling the strand engagement device includes receiving an input signal including content, determining the content of the input signal and operating the strand engagement device in response to, and based on the content of, the input signal.
