Abstract: The present invention has as its object the provision of an ultraviolet sterilizer that can reduce ultraviolet light in a wavelength region of 230 to 300 nm, which is harmful to the human body, and can output effective light in a wavelength region of 200 to 230 nm with high emission intensity. The ultraviolet sterilizer of the present invention is an ultraviolet sterilizer comprising: an ultraviolet light source; a lamp storage chamber for storing the ultraviolet light source; and a light guiding part for guiding light from the ultraviolet light source, in which a band pass filter for reducing ultraviolet light in a wavelength region harmful to a human body is provided at least one of a position between the light guiding part and the lamp storage chamber and a position of a light outputting leading end of the light guiding part, and an inner surface of the light guiding part is formed from an ultraviolet absorbing member that absorbs the ultraviolet light in the wavelength region harmful to the human body.

Abstract: Provided is a compact ultraviolet irradiation device in which a degree of an adverse effect on the human body is suppressed. The ultraviolet irradiation device includes: a lamp house on the surface of which a light extraction surface is formed; an excimer lamp accommodated in the lamp house, a main emission wavelength of which belongs to a first wavelength band of 190-225 nm; an optical filter that is arranged on the light extraction surface and substantially transmits the ultraviolet light in the first wavelength band and substantially reflect the ultraviolet light of a wavelength of 240-300 nm; and a reflecting surface that is a surface located outside the luminous tube of the excimer lamp and inclined with respect to the light extraction surface, the reflecting surface exhibiting reflectivity with respect to the ultraviolet light in the first wavelength band.

The UV irradiation apparatus includes a plurality of excimer lamps each having a light-emitting tube filled with a discharge gas containing a noble gas. The plurality of excimer lamps includes a first excimer lamp filled with the discharge gas at a first enclosed gas pressure and a second excimer lamp filled with the discharge gas at a second enclosed gas pressure lower than the first enclosed gas pressure. The first excimer lamp is placed in a position such that at least part of light emitted from the second excimer lamp is allowed to enter the first excimer lamp.

Abstract: An excimer lamp includes a discharge vessel in which a rare gas and a halogen are enclosed. The excimer lamp also includes at least one first electrode and at least one second electrode for generating a dielectric barrier discharge inside the discharge vessel. The discharge vessel has a discharge forming region and a non-discharge region such that discharging takes place in the discharge forming region and no discharging takes place in the non-discharge region. The discharge forming region is formed between the first electrode(s) and the second electrode(s). The non-discharge region communicates with the discharge forming region. The excimer lamp satisfies a following equation: (Vb×Ph)/Sd≥4.50 where Vb [mm3] represents a space volume inside the discharge vessel, Sd [mm2] represents an inner surface area of the discharge vessel in the discharge forming region, and Ph [Torr] represents a halogen-atoms partial pressure enclosed in the discharge vessel.

Abstract: A mercury-free discharge lamp includes a luminous tube, and a pair of electrodes in the luminous tube such that the electrodes face each other in the luminous tube. The discharge lamp also includes a pair of thermal insulation films formed on an outer surface of the luminous tube around the electrodes, respectively. Zinc, halogen, and a noble gas are sealed in the luminous tube. A metal is also sealed in the luminous tube. The metal has a lower ionization energy than zinc. A ratio of a molar density of the metal to a molar density of zinc is 0.001 to 0.05. The mercury-free discharge lamp has a long life and can emit an ultraviolet beam in a short wavelength range (200-350 nm) at a high output and a high luminous efficacy without causing devitrification of the luminous tube.
