    Abstract: A shoe includes: a heel portion; a toe portion; a sole portion; and an electrical assembly. The electrical assembly includes at least: a magnetometer configured to determine a direction of movement of the shoe; and an accelerometer configured to determine acceleration of the shoe. Direction and acceleration data are used to generate a display of a map indicating traversal of a route by a wearer of the shoe at user interface of a user device.

    Abstract: A fitness tracking system includes a shoe, a monitoring device, and a controller. The monitoring device is mounted on the shoe and includes an accelerometer configured to generate acceleration data corresponding to acceleration of a foot received by the shoe. The controller is operably connected to the accelerometer and is configured to collect sampled acceleration data by sampling the generated acceleration data, to identify foot strike data of the sampled acceleration data, to identify a local minimum of the sampled acceleration data collected prior to the foot strike data, and to determine foot strike characteristic data corresponding to the foot strike data based on an acceleration value at the local minimum.

The patch includes a substrate, a material detector, a memory, a comparator, an output component, and a power source. The material detector is disposed on the substrate and has a contact portion disposed so as to contact the skin. The material detector generates a material signal based on the amount of material contacting the contact portion. The memory has a priori material data stored within. The comparator outputs a compared signal based on the comparison of the material signal and the a priori material data.     Abstract: A shoe is provided for use by a user and for use with a communication device that transmits a blood pressure signal based on a detected blood pressure of the user. The shoe includes a sole, a force actuating mechanism, a receiver and a controller. The sole has a top surface for supporting the foot of the user when being worn by the user. The force actuating mechanism provides a force normal to the top surface of the sole and is disposed at the sole so as to provide the force to a plantar venous plexus of the foot. The receiver receives the blood pressure signal. The controller generates a control signal to control the force actuating mechanism. The controller further modifies the control signal based on the received blood pressure signal.
